I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt it necessary this time. I was having a birthday party with 50+ guests yesterday, and found myself without a cake at the last minute. I never imagined it would be that difficult to get a ready made large cake. After going to every grocery store, and calling countless bakery’s, I called Angelo’s. I was about to hang up when she said “when do
you need it, I can make you one and have it ready in a couple of
hours”. What a life saver she was!!! Honestly, the cake was so modestly priced that I figured it wouldn’t be that good of a cake. Boy was I wrong!! I probably had 30 people ask where it came from— it was absolutely fantastic!! I can not say enough about my new favorite bakery!!

An EXOTIC king cake! Amaretto creme - a unique version. While not the best cake on my list, worth a try.

The BEST. I recently passed through town and bought some doberge akes and macaroons my grandmother used to buy me there, and they were just as delicious as I remembered them. Lisa even remembered my grandmother and told me about her visits, which meant a lot to me. This place us a treasure!

The bakery was almost out of the popular items, the 4 fig cookies were hard as rock's/stale, they were out of eclairs again, and the lady said they will be for at least another week, and she said she didn't even know if they had the mix in stocks, the chocolate eclair was average not fresh as they claim that every thing in the bakery is no more than 24 hours old!! That can't be true! Waste of our time!!

Ordered a bday cake with strawberry cream cheese icing. I got a strawberry cheesecake instead. Drove two hours as I was going by recommendations from others. A cake, hence the word bday cake, not cheesecake. Daughter doesn’t eat cheesecake. Was very specific, as I wanted no real strawberries but strawberry cream cheese for the icing. Truly disappointed as the owner didn’t even offer to make this right or make the cake correctly. Just ok bye and hung up on my wife.

Service was exceptional but gelato and cannolis were nothing special. The cannolis were “filled on the spot” so the shell was not soggy but the filling was not good. I just got back from Italy 6 months ago and we had cannolis and gelato every day. This place wasn’t even close so not sure how it made it as a James Beard finalist this year.

I am noticing that the most negative reviews are within the last couple of months and unfortunately my recent visit was also disappointing. I got cinnamon rolls but they were kept in the front refrigerator and felt very hard. I tried heating them in the microwave which did help make them softer but they were dry and tasteless.

I am deeply saddened to leave this review of Angelo's king cake. I purchased a cinnamon king cake made by Angelo's at the navel base in Belle Chase. The king cake was burnt on the bottom and very dry. I know this is not the norm for Angelo's. I called Angelo's to let them know. The manager said they can't be responsible for how outside vendors handle the king cakes. She confirmed that ALL the king cakes are made at Angelo's. My thinking is that an outside vendor has nothing to do with a burnt king cake if it is baked at Angelo's. The manager did not want to see pictures and did not want me to bring it in. I called because my beloved Angelo's king cake was not being represented for how wonderful it usually is. That being said, I'm still out $16. I wonder how many other burnt king cakes are out there ruining Angelo's reputation. I think I care more than the manager did.

I purchased Italian cookies here today and was VERY disappointed. Fig cake cookies were mush. They apparently were old, exposed to humidity or the crust portion was undercooked. The seed cakes were ok but have had some elsewhere much more flavorful. The anise cookies had great flavor but was hard as a rock. For the quality today, very over priced. I have bought items here in past and items were good. ( I have never written a bad review ever in past). Sorry!
