This place has really gone down hill. The service is rude. The food is ok. My mandarin chicken was crispy but parts of it was just batter or over done chicken. The shrimp fried rice was made with tiny can shrimp and the rice was like a orange pinkish color. Definitely not the place I grew up eating Chinese

I’m honestly really disappointed with my combination meal from Cathay Imperial. This was supposed to include a mix of different items, but what I received was mostly a burnt, mushy mess with barely any actual substance. Everything seemed overcooked to the point where large parts tasted bitter, like it had been left on the pan far too long.
Instead of distinct items you’d expect in a combination dish, everything was clumped together in an unappetizing, soggy mixture with charred bits throughout. There was hardly any meat or vegetables to speak of—it felt like they gave me hardly anything, just sauce and scraps rather than a proper meal.
The rice was honestly just as bad—dry, stale, and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. It didn’t feel fresh at all and made the entire meal even more unpleasant.
Overall, this felt careless and poorly prepared. I will not be going there again.

I hate leaving bad reviews! I am from the area and used to eat at Cathay a lot The last few times have been average, and we stopped coming for about a year. Tonight, we were traveling on Airline and decide to give Cathay another chance. I ordered the Generals Chicken and was dry, lacked enough sauce and too spicy. My wife ordered the Garlic Shrimp, and it was too spicy for her to eat. We love Chinese food and have eaten all over the region! This may be the worst that I have had in the Greater New Orleans area! We spent $60 on the meal and it was not worth it!

We have dined here multiple times in the past. However today when we went we noticed that the aquarium was separated by like 80/20. On the small side was the biggest fish by itself. On the other side were 5 additional fish. It was not always like this because you cannot miss a big fish without enough room to turn around as you try and eat. I asked the waitress about this and she told me that the bigger fish was a bully. If that’s the case give it away or buy an additional aquarium so the poor fish can move around. It must be very lonely because it used to be with all the other fish. Seeing this ruined my appetite and I will never be back here.
