Chef Ron's Gumbo Stop

Food was absolutely amazing, but customer service is everything. I was visiting from Texas and looked forward to this place because it seemed to exceed everyone's expectations online. No one wants to enter an establishment and feel like they're inconveniencing the staff by just wanting to order some food to-go. They were nicer after seeing the tip I left though, so I guess that's better.

This is my favorite gumbo spot. I brought a friend at lunch and as always it was great. Plus the owner comes around to check that everything was good. This is the type of establishment that should be supported.

This is everything I want in a gumbo place. Neighborhood feel, cold beer, salt of the earth people working here. Chef/owner first person I met.

Gumbo was excellent! Highly recommend the Mumbo Gumbo. Combo of everything. I was stuffed when I walked in and just wanted a cold beer to bide my time- sooooo glad I took their advice and tried the gumbo.

I was really disappointed as I read a lot of good reviews. We got the gumbo, shrimp po boy, jambalaya, potato salad and macaroni and cheese. The jambalaya needed to be heated up as it was barely room temperature but very spicy and pretty good! The gumbo temperature came out okay not as hot as I would have liked it but I would say it was pretty good gumbo if you like okra. I had one piece of chicken and I think one piece of sausage in the whole gumbo. shrimp poor boy had some of the best French bread ever with six shrimp on half a po boy although they were decent sized shrimp. The potato salad did not have much of a taste and was kind of dry. The atmosphere is nice since they renovated. The most disappointing part was the service we got when we walked through the door. The host walked right up where do you want to sit sit here or the bar no personality came right up as soon as we sat down gave us our menus and wanted to take the order as soon as we sat down. Having never been there before we said we needed a minute to look at the menu cuz we've never been there before. Not a place I would go back to.

A must try when you come to the city..Food is highly addictive..Come to the one in Metairie, it quiet, clean and away from the chaos of the city..Highly recommended

Food was spot on. Perfect gumbo, you could tell it was a carefully executed roux. The Fried Green Tomatoes were extremely good. Come for the food.

Excellent service and truly one of the best gumbos our family has ever had! The owner is a very kind and welcoming man. We had a big weekend with a family wedding, and it meant a lot to have such delicious, consistent food during such a special time.

It was my mother’s first time attending a Portuguese wedding—since we’re Brazilian, it was a beautiful and meaningful cultural experience for her. Thank you for helping make this celebration even more memorable for our whole family, especially for my cousin and her husband. We really appreciate the warmth and the quality you bring. My cousin, who is like married to a A list celebrity and, I am blessed to work for her is a high up in our family flew us all in and this was a big weekend for all of us. The food was amazing thanks chef Ron we came all the way from Florida the consistency every single time is amazing food and service.
