Went with family for a birthday celebration, I ordered etouffee and fried fish...excellent, just needed a little seasoning. My husband ordered the oyster poboy and loved it, along with the coleslaw ( he thought it was too sweet, but my son and I loved it), my daughter in law ordered the seafood salad with ranch and it was awesome, my neice ordered the gumbo, but said it needed seasoning also. My son(birthday guy) ordered the stuffed crab, a side of etouffee, and a side of red beans n rice, said all was great. I tried his stuffed crab and it was 100x better than store bought or other restaurants, could see the chunks of crab. Great flavor. Our server was over the top efficient and accommodating. Before I forget, it all started with boiled red potatoes and butter, delicious and 1/2 dozen BBQ oysters and 1/2 dozen chargrilled oysters. Liked the garlic butter ones best.
Chilllleeee you must go to the one in Metairie La. Ooooh were let me book my flight now. Mouth watering a d so much food ya'll. Look my son can can get rid of some food but when 8 tell you he still had a mound of seafood on his plate after eating most of it. He had to ask for a to go box. Fried oyster the bomb. BBQ shrimp omgggg look out. One plate serves two people so be careful Deanies will remind you that you are in the dirty south, so watch out now!Kid-friendliness: Make sure they come on an empty stomach or share a plateParking: FreeWheelchair accessibility: Yes
Came specifically for oysters. Was not disappointed. They provide some boiled potatoes up front. Sounds blah, but theirs are boiled along with the crabs. Fab taste; melt in your mouth with that crab-pot taste. Yum! Char-broiled dz oysters were delicious, were small so chef added another 1/2 dz. Thank you! Then ordered fried oysters for main meal. Again, fab taste. Well worth finding this gem of a restaurant which has been here for a very long time.
Until last night, Deanie's in Metairie has been my families favorite restaurant to go to. It pains me to write a bad review because every time it has been consistently good for years that we have been going. The boiled shrimp we had was overcooked and the shells were hard to peel. They were barely warm and just unappetizing. Crawfish bisque was lukewarm, had a burned flavor amongst other off flavors. The broiled shrimp was overcooked and butter sauce was non existent because it had been burned and cooked off. The food was just simply not good that we ordered. Everyone left feeling disappointed.
I always have a great experience when I go here. Food and service are always up to par and very consistent. The onion rings are a must and the boiled potatoes that are complimentarily are excellent. I always order the giant seafood platter and split it between 3 people and still take home probably half of it. It's loaded with seafood and not fries like most places and well worth the money in my opinion.
I ordered the Super Seafood platter. The fried seafood was very unexciting and had no seasoning that I could taste. The service was good. The food, which is the most important part, was not.I expected much better for the price I payed.Do not waste your money on the fried seafood here. You will be disappointed that you spent any amount of money on it.
Has always been one of my local favorites. Stuffed flounder, bacon wrapped shrimp, small garden salad (with a very tasty spicy tomato italian dressing), small crabmeat augratin (my favorite menu item), and a french baguette served warm. This is comfort food for me. We were greeted immediately, seated immediately and served promptly. Can't wait until I get to come back again.
Stopped at the Deannies Restaurant Metairie , had never been to this one location . It was clean, staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and was fresh and homemade. The stuffed crab was the best I’ve had in years, not too much bread crumbs, lots of crab meat throughout. Everyone’s food was great. If you’re on your way to New Orleans , stop here FIRST if you want great- fresh seafood and get your money’s worth ! The picture uploaded is of the leftovers from the HALF PLATTER! A mound of food.
Traveled almost 5 hours to try this place. The one in New Orleans wait was extremely long so we drove to the Metairie location. My husband is always a picky eater but I would eat or try anything. Well if I say it was not good then it was not good at all. We waited over an hour, after being set down to get food. There was absolutely no seasoning in the food. I paid $10 for boil shrimp that looked stringy and tortured. They almost didn't look like shrimps at all. The red beans and rice was awful. I ordered a boil soft shell crab and it looked like an oversized boiled cockroach. I could even put my mind together to try it. My husband catfish was hot and nasty. This is one of his favorite food and he left over half on his plate. We paid $75 on food that we was only able to consume $10 worth. We left and drove to a fast food joint. I hope this was just this particular day but I'll never try them again. I will say that my Coke was good.
This was a fantastic place with absolutely delicious food. Our waiter, Patrick, was the best. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. We had the stuffed mushrooms and crawfish balls for appetizers. So delicious! I had the seafood gumbo and my husband had the seafood salad, we ate every bite. We highly recommend this restaurant.
There's something to be said about the classics. Deanie's has been a constant in the New Orleans area food scene for as long as I can remember and that's not a bad thing. Don't come in expecting fancy decor or a fresh new menu - but come for a true taste of New Orleans all around. It's hard to have a bad experience here and should be on the list for any visit to the area!
Good service and great food as always.we went maybe an hour after opening and we didn’t have to wait to be seated.
It is very casual but the food is so fresh and seafood is great. (2 other locations but this is the original). Oysters everyway and huge (raw & charbroiled). Crawfish & stuffed flounder & huge fried seafood platters. Artichoke hearts appetizer also excellent. Can't say enough about how great it is. As long as you do not need fancy, this is the place to go for quality & quantity and reasonable prices. Family friendly with great service. Everyone loved their food and considered it an 'experience'.
This food was soooo good! I miss this good cooking now that I live in Texas. This is a must if you are in the New Orleans area! I highly recommend it!!
We've eaten here several times. We like it, nothing real fancy, but good seafood. We like the crawfish dishes, and will try them again.
