My husband and I went here today for dinner around 6:30pm. There wasn’t many people, the old school music selection was great, and our server was really nice. We both got the half chicken and subbed our sides to okra and macncheese and greens and macncheese. We didn’t wait long for our food and it was HOT and DELICIOUS when it finally arrived. The chicken had a great flavor as well as the sides. The macncheese is creamy and cheesy. I will definitely be back!

We ordered the tenders plates, they were very juicy. Cole slaw was a little bland but the beans and Mac and cheese were great. Don't waste your money on the root beer float, they put about a half of a scoop of ice cream in there and fill a cup halfway up with root beer...not worth the money. But overall we were pleased.

The young lady sat us and took our drink orders right away. When she came back she explained the $10 plate specials. We decided on the white meat special, 2 breasts and 1 wing with baked beans and potato salad, and the 4 drumstick plate with cole slaw and Mac & cheese. You should know any substitutions to the basic plate is an automatic upcharge.It came to the table faster then I expected hot & fresh. The chicken is coated in a wet batter crust and has a little heat to it, but not so hot a little one would be unhappy. I enjoyed the flavor of the crust, I wish it had a little less salt, and that the chicken meat had some of that flavor, but it was very good overall. The sides, well everyone has their own tastes. While I enjoyed all the things I tried, I feel the potato salad was too sweet for me, although the sweetness of the cole slaw made sense to me. It cut some of the heat from the crust. The Mac & cheese was good and definitely home made, I like a cheesy Mac, not cheese soup with Mac. It had a yummy flavor that went well with the chicken. As someone who grew up on Popeyes this is very different, but just as delicious.

This place was outstanding, everyone was friendly and the service was quick. This was some of the best chicken I’ve had. Spiced just right and the skin was crispy, but very juicy when you bit into it.

You don’t go to Gus’s for an amazing atmosphere. You go there for the amazing chicken. I didn’t think it was that spicy but it was definitely flavorful. The baked beans and coleslaw was spot on too. Didn’t know about it now but I’ll be looking for them going forward.

Gus’s on Veterans- I wasn’t greeted by anyone when walking in. I had to ask the server to take my order after she stared at me for 10 minutes and waited on 3 other customers who walked in after me. When she finally came to take my order she just stood there with a terrible attitude. She didn’t “put the order in” so as I waited watching others who entered after me get served their food, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager said she would “speak” to the server about the ordeal. I paid for my drink and left. I will not return back. I don’t care how good the chicken is.
