I gave it a good try. I just moved close so I have given this place a try three times in the past two months. Pizzas are small compared to the cost. Twice, I ordered small pizzas, they were okay - at best. Toppings were not hot, more like lukewarm and really didn't seem like it was cooked long enough. The dough was done but the toppings were not. Another time I ordered a meatball sub and was definitely disappointed, no real flavor in the sauce or meat, it was very bland. I ordered chicken bites as well and had high hopes because the menu says its chunks of chicken breasts lightly seasoned and breaded - well, they are definitely frozen chicken bites, not homemade as I hoped or thought. The breading was thick and the chicken itself was mushy. I will not be back...

While dining in, we waited over an hour for a single medium pizza, 6 wings, and fries. The fries tasted like they have been in the freezer for months and the wings were so rubbery they were inedible. The pizza was nothing to rave about, especially after the long wait. We were never spoken to by wait staff on the status of our food. When the food finally did come out, we were given the wrong order. Overall, just very disappointing experience for a first time customer.

I rarely ever leave reviews on here, but I couldn’t help myself with this situation. What an awful experience. First, it took us over an hour to receive our food (we were dining in). Second, the food was just so subpar; absolutely not worth the hour wait. Third, my wife ordered the wings with fries - what a dumpster fire that was. Fries were clearly stale and old, probably just threw them in the oven while they sat out all day, and the wings were about the same consistency as the rubber on my flip-flops. Lastly, the service was abysmal. Zero sense of urgency, no updates on our food wait-time, nothing. I think the server came up to us one time in the hour that we waited to ask for refills.

Just an overall bad experience. I hope this place can drastically improve. I will not be back.

Great pizza spot! Red sauce is delicious and under crust has minimal flop. Great old school pizza place vibe. Staple in Metairie!

Smells great / tastes bad. Ate 2 bites and threw the rest away. Reminds me of an under cooked frozen pizza, you could do better at Sam’s. Waitress was clueless. Was my favorite place 20 years ago.

I dine at Mark Twain's frequently, I took upon myself to respond to Kelleigh's post. I have never seen Gary make a salad without gloves. I sit at the bar at least 2 times a week. For you to sit here and try to lie on the man, I took it upon myself to answer. Mark Twains is fabulous. Great pizza and even better customer service. People like you are making the service industry decline.

When I walked in I was greeted by what I assume is the owner. Older bald man. We talked for a bit and if I recall correctly he said his name was Gary. Everything was normal at first and I order a salad for my appetizer. Lo and behold I look over and he is digging in his butt while preparing my salad with no gloves. Didn't see his hand washed. Nothing. Appalled absolutely not never again. Be warned.

Once again, knocked it out the park. We had a cheese pizza for the kids and a meat for the adults at table. Both pizzas were made to order freshly served. The cheese pizza was great. Kids ate a large which never happens. Thanks again Mark Twains for great service and great food.

I’ve ordered four maybe five times from Mark Twain‘s pizza because I don’t have a good memory. I like thin crust so I can’t complain about that but I also like cheese and I didn’t ask for thin cheese. Also I ordered the medium pizza which is supposed to be 12 inches When I got it. It was shockingly small so I measured it. I came out to 10 inches. I called the manager told them about the size discrepancy, and he Said, “yeah we had to stretch it out to get it thin, and it shrinks. if I gave you 12 inches I’d have to charge you more.” He said they ration the cheese. What? Are we living during WWII? ration out?

By the time I paid a tip ($4.50), delivery fee and the pizza it came out to $26.

It’s a shame because the sauce is not bad. The cheese is cheap skim milk mozzarella. The crust has a toasted pita bread texture.

Take a look at the photo, you can see the light coming through the pizza.

The manager actually said, “ if we can’t satisfy you, please don’t order from us anymore”.

Does anybody know where to get good thin crust pizza?

An old Metarie institution, Mark Twain’s pizza never disappoints. Best wings around NOLA and the only pizza place my kid will devour completely, including the crust. Friendly staff with unassuming services, perfect place to end a Friday.
