I made the mistake of ordering as soon as the store opened, expecting hot, fresh donuts. Instead, I received dry, overcooked, borderline stale donuts that had zero glaze and absolutely no warmth. These were not fresh by any stretchâthey tasted like theyâd been sitting out overnight or cooked in old, burnt grease. If youâve ever had a low-budget fair funnel cake soaked in used oil, imagine thatâbut worse.
When I called to politely express my concern, I was stunned by how unprofessional the response was. The owner, Meechie, didnât just dismiss my complaintâshe hung up on me mid-sentence. When I called back, she doubled down, saying, âThese are our donuts,â as if that somehow excused the poor quality. According to her, this is the standard they stand byâdry, greasy, overcooked donuts served with a side of rudeness.
Honestly, Iâve had better gas station pastries. Thereâs absolutely no excuse for this kind of product or customer service, especially first thing in the morning. I will never return, and I strongly recommend others avoid this location unless you enjoy being disrespected and served leftovers disguised as breakfast.

Yum!!! From out of town, my dad is from the state and had told me about Shipleyâs. Had never heard of (and definitely havenât tried) the place before then but it was amazing! I wish we had these in Virginia. Delicious and cheap!

My first time here was my last time. Before going I looked at their website and was super excited to try a cherry glazed donut, but when we got there they were out of it along with many others we planned on ordering. It ended up taking some time for us to figure out what we wanted, and when we were done, the woman asked us if we were from here. Seemed like an odd question and a little insulting, like we didnât know what we were doing. Aside from all of that, the donuts themselves are terrible! Very greasy and inconsistent across flavors when it comes to sweetness. I would not recommend this place at all.

I paid $30 for a dozen mixed donuts and a kolache, and they were not fresh â donât lie and say they were made today when anyone with taste buds knows better. Plus, I'm a chef ma'am I know the taste of old food!!!! Iâve been going to Shipleyâs in Houston for years, and this trash doesnât even come close. You should have been a little nicer on the phone when I called to complain. Customer service is everything, so when someone calls to complain, your reaction should not be to rush them off the phone with a nonchalant attitude. I paid my money! And with my contacts in New Orleans, you too can be on that cancel list. Yâall clearly donât care about quality or customers, just taking peopleâs money and running. Itâs ridiculous and pathetic. Get it together â or donât, but donât expect folks to keep supporting mediocrity, especially in New Orleans.

I think they serve day old donuts. Donuts are super dry. I only ordered glazed donuts and there was barely any glaze on the donuts.
First time trying Shipley's today and was not disappointed! They had my favorite Maple frosted. the donuts were delicious and reasonably priced and the service was friendly. I will go back.?
