My family and I have been regulars at this legendary restaurant since we moved to the NOLA area in 1990. That being said, the food has definitely gone downhill, both in quality and cooking technique (case in point we came yesterday for my wife’s birthday; the tonkatsu was dry and overcooked, and the beef teriyaki we ordered medium was almost rare inside and too chewy. The tempura was also not fresh and overcooked. I know the restaurant business is tough and I wish the new owners and staff well. As for me and my family, sadly we won’t be making any more trips from the Northshore to this former gem. As another reviewer said, all things come to an end. You had a good run Shogun.

I’ve eaten omakase all over and this is some of the best I’ve ever had. The best sushi in the New Orleans area and awesome hibachi. Love the seafood soup as well. Great service and reasonable prices. Have been coming here for years and still come weekly. It is always a top notch experience. 10/10 recommend!

The Omakase is the best in New Orleans hands down. The servers and host are very friendly. Tommy the sushi chef has great humor and makes you feel at home. Come for 6.

Above average hibachi program. They can get busy and the wait can be long.

I used to be a regular I loved the food and Wu the server she is the best, but one time I went during a Friday night and was unlucky enough to be attended by the Indian server I forgot his name, he make me feel ridiculous because I wanted the chicken roll that comes on the dinner for two . He was so loud that everyone stared at me and even call to the cashier asking if there was really a roll like that. The server that attended the table next to me tried to reason with him and show him that in fact they had that roll but was almost imposible. My partner and I ordered and he barely check on us. After that I never attended the restaurant. Just because this awful experience. Even though I loved this places that was a horrible day. And I don't grade it one star just because of my other experiences.

For all the hype this place was filthy. Dirt and grime on the walls, flies on the meat they were about to cook. The little show was ok but for the $ we spent, we way overpaid. Don't waste your money
