Ok, this is going to be a kind of long review because I have a lot of history with this establishment. I moved here in the late 80s to go to college and one of the few places I could go out and eat at an affordable price and had GREAT food was Dan-Ken Trail. I mean, hell, military pilots from the entire southern part of this country made it a must stop on their training flights. The squadron patches on the walls of the restaurant are proof. The BBQ was awesome and the price was very affordable. I knew the original owner and he was a wonderful person. Fast forward to today and things are not the same. I know these are trying times and it’s hard to make money in the restaurant business but come on, you still need to give your customers their monies worth. Dan-Ken Trail has been under new management for a while and I really think the quality has dropped considerably. I used to eat here weekly with a buddy but he will no longer eat here because the food quality vs price is so bad. I had lunch one day with my grandson and he had a rib plate, that was very pricey by the way, and it was essentially rib bones with a little skin on them. I have refrained from writing a review because I knew the original owner and know the current owner. But tonight, kind of pushed me over the limit. I have refrained from eating at Dan-Ken Trail for all of the above reasons but I still get a hankering for that old BBQ that they used to produce. So tonight, the wife and I ordered takeout from them. I ordered a Ham po’boy with fries. I got a ham po’boy and that’s it. Now I know by its self-that’s not a big deal but when you add in all the other……kind of makes you want to cross Dan-Ken Trail off your list. I can tell you, its off mine. I hate it but have no choice. Things have gotten too expensive these days, you have to choose where to spend your money and would at least like to get what you pay for. By the way, the fries were marked on the order form….just not included with the order.

Maybe it was late. All side on bar were dried up and crusted over. I had no side although I had a combo. Staff was friendly

We had lunch here and it was delicious! The staff were friendly and we were overall impressed. I would definitely recommend the sliced brisket and bbq beans!

We got sliced brisket and ribs. The ribs were okay but the brisket was Chewey. I won't be going back. I would not recommend this place if you like tender meats

This was my first time getting foot from this place. I was told my grandmother enjoyed eating here. But the Mac and cheese had no seasoning. The greens were from the can and the bbq brisket I ordered wasssss…. Not ok. She was ok with the cole slaw and banana pudding but everything was disappointing and disgusting. The is a local eatery that grew a decent crowd. But I was not impressed with the food. The customer service however was outstanding! The ladies that assisted me were kind and helpful.

Always messes up order, I ordered brisket as a pregnancy craving, they gave me pork. I cannot eat pork for not just craving reasons but religious reasons. Man that made it did not listen, and was told 5 times it's the trail special with brisket, he seemed like he was on drugs.
The service was fabulous everyone was absolutely polite and welcoming! Unfortunately we decided to go there after one of my coworkers had an upset stomach the day before from the food- I got the ribs with 2 sides and have had one of the worst food poisoning ever it’s been almost 2 days and I still don’t feel good.

Been hard to find any decent BBQ in the Monroe area. Found this place just driving around and I’m not disappointed. The staff is very friendly and took pride in the food they were serving. Still isn’t Texas BBQ but pretty darn close lol.

I have always liked Danken Trail the best. Sliced brisket with baked beans and I call it twice baked potatoes.

Amazing Experience!! I called ahead the day before Thanksgiving, and so many places closed early. Ordered to feed 5 to 7 people. The food was delicious and plentiful. So friendly and professional employees. The place was packed, but they had it ready and secure for my continued travel home.
