Love this casual warm inviting spot in downtown Monroe. Took my sister for her birthday after the Black History Parade. The rave reviews I'd heard were well deserved. I got Fried Catfish with Crawfish Ettouffee. My sister had Fried Dhrimp & Fried Oysters. My niece had chargrilled Oysters on the shell. Everything was delicious. Our server was great. Their outdoor dining patio is beautiful.

Fontenot's came to us via local recommendation as "the real deal!" AND IT WAS! Fishermen and staff from the National Crappie League enjoyed alligator, shrimp, crawfishes, and even steak - all excellent. Our server did a great job with so many hungry guys to feed and the owners even let me peak into their world, the kitchen! Thanks for a great time!

I ordered the Monterey boudin BALL (cause they only give you 1) and crawfish etouffee. There were 2 tiny pieces of cheese in the boudin ball that weren't melted. The texture of the inside was like mush. The rice under the etouffee tasted like they cooked it the day before and reheated it. Parts of rice were hard and crunchy. They gave me a slice of cheesecake for my birthday, and it was good, but I don't think they made it. The staff was really sweet, but I won't be back.

The food was amazingly good. You get alot of food for the price and you definitely won't walk away hungry!

Amazing food at a great price!! Definitely will be back. Cajun nachos, gumbo, Gator sauce piquante and crawfish fettuccine were all great

I love the great service but if the food doesn’t match it’s a no for me. Your poboy was awesome when you first opened. Now the bun is slightly bigger than a hot dog bun and was tough to bite even where it wasnt burnt. My plate ( I opened the container before I left) was horrible. I only ate the fries and shrimp. I can understand cutting food costs but I think you lost me. One young lady did bring me a container of lettuce, tomato and pickles. I couldn’t see any on the poboy because of it being smothered in sauce.

Nice atmosphere, good service for me. I had onion ring strings for appetizer (great) and grilled chicken salad (spicy) with sweat tea (nasty). An hour later my friend had indigestion and I had gas. The people next to us order no tomatoes on their nachos due to food allergies. They received the nachos with tomatoes so they sent it back. While they were eating the new order of nachos they found tomatoes under the chips. The restaurant just picked tomatoes off! Didn't make a new batch of nachos, and could've caused a customer to be hospitalized.

We stopped in because the food smelled so good from the outside. The server was polite when she told us to sit anywhere. After giving us waters we were told we couldn’t order alcohol as their alcohol license was not current. We considered leaving but chose to stay as the server was quite friendly, and the food did smell good inside the building. We decided to order an appetizer, and then go have drinks and dinner elsewhere. The appetizer we ordered came out, drowned in grease with two sides of ranch, which had not been included in the description of the food on the menu.I would give the appetizer a 4 out of 10.When we got the bill not only was the appetizer $.50 more expensive than what was listed on the menu, we were also charged an additional $.50 for each of the ranches that we did not order. We will not be back.

We were passing through Monroe, LA and hadd the urge to eat cajun food. The first place we stopped (aafter consulting Yelp) was being remoddled. We ask who I assumed was the owner for a recommendation and he sent us to Fontenot's. I am shaking my head after seeing the other reviews and the mediocre rating. This place was at least 4 stars, probably 5. We split an order of crab cakes. I had crafwfish etoufee and it was delicious. My wife had a specialty item that was several different items stacked into a tower shape.she was pleased but wished she had ordered something "less fried." I would gladly go back to this place given the opportunity.
