This is definitely a Collegetown restaurant so if you’re looking for a quiet dining, I would not recommend going on the weekends. This is a great place to take Family or celebratory trips, especially with their great food.

Jay Pappa's is a hidden gem! My family and I celebrated my son's college graduation there during lunchtime. There atmosphere was peaceful, neat, clean and had plenty of character with great pictures of Jay Pappa's hanging on the walls, wine racks filled with wine bottles also hanging on the wall great idea! The menu has a good variety that allows you options of food to choose from including some a la carte items. The prices are reasonable and affordable. I cannot say enough about Blair who is simply amazing! She is a New Orleans native who is most awesome, professional, patient and knows everything about providing excellent customer service. She went above and beyond for us and I'll never forget it! Blair made us feel as though we were the only customers in the restaurant and we appreciated that. I look forward to my next visit! Thanks Blair you rock!!!

Terrible service. Waitress was curt and rude. Oyster appetizer came out cold and disgusting; rather than remake the order, they warmed them up which means now the
cheese was burned and the oyster was overcooked. Large party, however the food still took too long and was not worth the wait. Came all the way from Dallas for this nonsense. Unfortunate.

Several people that I was with had the crab and shrimp topped red fish. All said it was dry but flavorful. It was minimal crab and 3 shrimp on top. The spinach was lukewarm but good. The spinach dip was mid and the crab cakes were not good. The oysters Rockefeller and the Parmesan were ok. The best items were the fried grits and mixed veggies. The green beans came out of a can.

5 Stars — A Hidden Creole Treasure in Monroe

Jay Pappa’s is an absolute standout in Ouachita Parish! From the stylish, modern interior to the rich, flavorful dishes, everything about this restaurant hits the mark. The Creole flavors are authentic and bold—each bite is a celebration of Southern cuisine done right. The service was warm and attentive, making the whole experience feel effortless and enjoyable.

Their cocktails are excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect whether you’re out for date night or dining with friends. I especially loved the attention to detail in both the food and the ambiance. This place deserves all the praise—it’s a must-visit if you’re in the area!

Made a reservation , had to give my card number. Person over the phone lied and said they confirmed the reservation with a manager then waited until the next day in the evening to cancel the reservation

Our table and well as 3 others were there 1 hour and 45 min. Never got any food. Asked waitress, she said she didnt know. She never came back to check on us, nor anyone else. We finally just left. Won't be back. This was our once in a blue moon mommy & daddy date night... now we have to go get something quick to get back to the kids and send the babysitter home... yikes.
