This spot right here was a true experience.... I got off the plane, went to the hotel and then straight to Acamaya. It was my first time so I did feel very underdressed but it was cool. No one batted an eye I was treated like family. Staff is super cool and inviting. My server was Cole and he is extremely knowledgeable about the menu which really helped because I was not familiar with the nuances of the menu. Now let's talk food.... It was out of this world. CAVIAR AND GORDITAS.... Chefs kiss OCTOPUS I eat a lot of octo this was a home run AYOCOTE BEANS flavor is complexed simplicity CHOCHOYOTES Love on a plate, it was my fav CARNE ASADA Let me move in already cause I'm home The vibe is nice, music is just as nice as the vibe and the food speaks for itself. If you visit Nola this is a must. And for a spot to have so many accolades and being a newer restaurant the prices are very fair for the quality of food and the quality of service. Give them a try I promise you will not be disappointed.
Can't say enough good things about this place. The flavor combinations all work. I had made this reservation based on a recommendation, and when I realized it was Mexican, was a bit hesitant, as we wanted regional food on our trip. The melding of Mexican with regional food items is outstanding. The Higgens cab with collard greens is a dish that I will dream about forever.
What a wonderful meal. The oysters were great, as was the drum veracruz, crab claws, and shrimp costra.
Everything was top notch here. We sat at the counter with the bartenders and they were very friendly and accommodating. I think the octopus was the best I've ever had! The tostadas were delicious and unique. I'm not a big fan of flan, but theirs blew me away. It was denser and sublime! Make a reservation now!
The food was packed with flavor, the cocktails were fantastic, and the service was really, really on point! Fantastic experience all around.
The NYE Lengua Madre menu was second to none! Bravo! Acamaya is one of the best restaurants, Ana Castro is a star
Service was awful. Our waiter was rude and dismissive to us all night even cursed at us under his breath. He got petty after we said we didn't like their caviar dish. After that we were ignored all night and given attitude and treated rudely. Terrible experience food wasn't awful but the service ruined our meal. We will never go back. Terrible terrible experience I would give 0 stars if I could.
Acamaya is a special restaurant. It respects the ingredients of the Gulf while honoring the techniques of Mexico, resulting in a meal that is bright, bold, and entirely unforgettable. The cocktail program is thoughtful, featuring a curated selection of mezcals and tequilas that lean into smoky, herbal, and refreshing profiles. The service is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience. The chochoyotes (collard greens balanced with sweet pork meat and acid from vinegar) and blacked flounder (a la Veracruzana) were comforting dishes and the black rice (squid ink, mussels, huitlacoche) was exceptional.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Everything was first rate from start to finish. My expectations were very high for this restaurant, and Acamaya far exceeded them

The food was so good. The flavors that they incorporate into the dishes are absolutely delicious.
Acamaya is a real treat. It is a very casual environment with extraordinary food. The menu is fairly small, but the choices are all interesting and delicious. The Octopus is one of the best we have ever had, including in Spain. I also highly recommend the Marguerita. It is made with a quality tequila and lime - pure and delicious. It is possible to go and just have a selection of small plates to share. There are also a few main course selections. Highly recommended.
We had a fabulous experience at Acamaya. The crab claws were amazing. The Tuna tostada very good and loved the snapper ceviche. I had the chochoyote's (sp?) collard's, guanciale, crabmeat and the dumpling (really good). I also had the grilled octopus which was phenomenal. Everyone else had the carne asada also very good. Drinks were tasty. Hot tip. in order to make a reservation, set an alarm for the middle of the night one month ahead.
Treat yourself make it a party, and you won't be disappointed here. I've enjoyed Acamaya 4-5 times now, and each has turned into sweet memories. The food is excellent and uniquely prepared. The people that join you will hug you for it :)
Was excited to try Acamaya but came away somewhat disappointed. Didn't appreciate being stuck at a corner table where we couldn't see the main area of the restaurant. Food was ok and loved trying new flavors but nothing I need to go back for. Waitress was disappointing and really didn't seem to have any passion for her job or highlighting the menu. Music was too loud and my table of 4 had a hard time conversing. Overall, the venue has great vibes but needs a lot of improvement for a great dining experience, especially for the cost which we all felt was very pricey.
