Excellent selection of Bourbon and knowledgeable manager/owner. Favorite restaurant we visited in NOLA. Food was served quick, service was exactly as we would have wanted - servers there when needed and scarce when just enjoying the food and conversation. Food itself was great but also expectedly so from a Michelin reviewed restaurant.
This weekend we ate at Commander’s Palace, Cochon, Jacques-Imo’s and Atchafalaya. Atchafalaya was hands down the best of them all for food especially but also for service and ambience. Their gumbo is still the best of any weve had anywhere we can remember — all 4 of us dining agreed. Their shrimp and grits is so rich, so complex, so flavorful - you just feel rewarded for ordering it. My old fashioned was a generous pour, strong and I opted to skip further alcohol. The bread...
I usually love Atchafalaya and make sure that I eat there every time I visit NO, but this time was just mid. We sat at the bar, and the service were received was lethargic and uninterested. We did visit a few days after Fat Tuesday, so maybe that was the reason. We will be back for the great food and service we usually receive. The bread pudding was the driest I’ve ever eaten. Zero moisture.
