Do yourself a favor and get the red beans the side is $4 or dinner sized with sausage for 10.75. I literally dream of their food. The oyster po'boys are something to write home about and the staff is the kindest by far. Don't hesitate visit.
Avery's is hands down my favorite poboy shop in New Orleans. Having become famous over the years for their Buffalo Shrimp poboy, The Sandbag, the Fried Potato Salad, or the Stas burger - you really can't go wrong. We stopped in recently as they just reopened post the Covid closures to get the Buffalo Shrimp. Seriously, I dream about this poboy. Not the best location but the food is fantastic! I don't love traveling to Tulane, but I have a customer not far from here and we get PO boys on occasion at Avery's. The bread is really good a soft less crunchy PO boy bread. The fried seafood is cooked well and the portions are decent.
