Although New Orleans has no shortage of bats, neighborhood bars are a special dying breed. We have witnessed far too many of them ditching their original art and gutting out their interiors to "upgrade" them and turn them into generic watering holes.

Don't mind the sleeziness. It's part of the ambiance. The huge back yard is a groovy place to sit, sip and hang out. Most everybody knows everybody and if you don't you will. Krewes choose gathering and bring pot luck for all to share. Very much a quintessential New Orleans experience.
