Bar Marilou is such a vibe. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere hits you -sexy, sultry, and effortlessly cool. The lighting, the decor, the music… everything comes together to create this warm, moody ambiance that feels both elevated and inviting.
The cocktails are fantastic, too. They’re wellbalanced, creative, and beautifully made. It’s the perfect spot for a date night, a late night drink, or just to settle into a place that feels a little magical.
If you’re in New Orleans and want a bar with great energy and an unforgettable ambiance, Bar Marilou is definitely the move.

Ambience and decor 10/10. Don’t know if it was an off night but unfortunately the servers made us feel like a burden. Taking photos in front of the cute neon light sign after a couple of drinks with friends and one lady comes outside and deliberately turns it off. Server seemed annoyed that we even came in. With such high prices you would think the service would be a bit more welcoming!

Our server was very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and the cocktails and atmosphere were beautiful. We truly enjoyed most of our night, and nothing against our server — she was wonderful.
At the end of the evening, we wanted to take a couple of quick photos before leaving. Someone approached us politely, and we understood — flash probably wasn’t ideal. We just loved the ambiance and wanted to share it. What disappointed us was overhearing her and the bartender talking loudly while we were still standing there. After spending almost $500, it made us feel bad and honestly a bit upset. It felt unprofessional and took away from what had been a lovely evening.
It does feel a little strange that photos seem to be an issue, especially since the space is so beautiful — and several other guests seem to have mentioned similar experiences. If photos aren’t allowed, a small sign or note would really help avoid confusion going forward.
Unfortunately, because of how unwelcome we were made to feel at the end, we won’t be returning, though we hope this is something the restaurant chooses to improve.

This bar has a sleek and cozy vibe. Tucked away like a speak easy it can be a little tricky to find, which makes it more exciting when you arrive. I was disappointed in my cocktail unfortunately. I ordered a New York sour. The first one was way wrong and the remake was still below average. I was expecting expertise craft cocktails to match the vibe. Would still go back for the feel tho!

Gorgeous and great mocktail. However, the atmosphere would have been much improved with more hospitable staff. Our pretty tame group was not only not welcomed, but inexplicably mistreated. Didn’t feel like the NOLA we love.
