We reserved a table just in case, and we had a great view and it wasn't too loud (on the side). We had one seat on the upholstered bench and one on a chair. The chair wasn't too comfortable, but after the first set, a lot of people left and we both sat on the bench, which was nice. Service was excellent. Attentive and friendly without being intrusive. I ordered two mocktails and they were great! Flavorful but not overly sweet. I had the kale salad, which was a bit sour (dressing) but good, and the wings, which were excellent. The prices are very reasonable. It's a small and intimate setting, really cozy.

Live music most nights. Cozy atmosphere and up close band experience. Gumbo and cracked potatoes are amazing. Weekend menu crosses over with the restaurant next door, so try the scallops. Wait staff are all friendly but busy.

Reserved a nice table in this small club.
But in this lost world that we've devolved into, management allowed the 'standing room' folks to stand right in front of the stage, blocking us entirely. Pathetic.

We had such a fun night there. We expected a quiet jazz bar but it turned into something quite unexpected with a few lively groups celebrating. The staff were amazing and kept the drinks and food flowing. The band called Oh Yeah were so entertaining with Ed Perkins out front doing a masterful job. Loved the overall vibe of the place. We started off at the Tin Roof first and enjoyed that too. We'll definitely be back. Welll done to the friendly and professional staff.

I stayed at the Pontchartrain in March—and while the hotel experience was deeply disappointing (would not recommend!), the Bayou Bar was the silver lining that completely turned things around. If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in.
Our bartender, Claudia, was nothing short of exceptional. She’s that rare kind of bartender who nails every aspect of the job—fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to talk to. We came to explore New Orleans, but ended up spending far more time than planned at the Bayou Bar simply because of Claudia.
She made spot-on cocktail recommendations based on our preferences, took perfect care of us when we ordered food at the bar, and created such a welcoming vibe that we just kept coming back. Without a doubt, the highlight of our entire stay was every experience we had at Claudia’s bar.
If you're anywhere nearby, go to Bayou Bar—and cross your fingers Claudia’s behind the bar when you do! 🤞

Great food and priced fair. Loved my Cajun red fish. My husband got a tomahawk steak which he enjoyed but the cook wasn’t what he had wanted but it was good. #sunshinereviews

Amazing experience. Tables were booked but I was able to snag a spot at the bar. Had the duck gumbo and it was great, really great spice and portion. Then I got the fried chicken Parmesan and 🤯🤯🤯 it was so good! Not what I expected at all but was so crispy and juicy and flavorful. Then I somehow had room for dessert. I was suggested the mile high pie but I don't like peppermint so I went for the chocolate cake. It was smaller than I expected but it was soo delicious and rich. The live music at 8pm was the cherry on top, even though it did get a bit crowded. Would definitely recommend!

Also p.s. it's located inside a hotel, i didn't really see that anywhere when I was researching the bar.
