One of the best brunch spots in NOLA! Loved everything we ordered and went back twice. Crab Scramble, Pulled Brisket, and Scallops/Fried Oysters with Grits—so good! The grits were a bit pricey ($31), but totally worth it.

The food service as well as the food was really good. Great place to have breakfast and lunch. I gave it a three stars on the atmosphere only because my wife was walking through there and We had to go upstairs to eat, which was no problem, just be prepared to walk to flights stairs. As we were walking through the doorway, there is a slight incline which is hard to see going into the dining room, and my wife slipped and fell and hit her head on the little wooden wall through the doorway. We're not blaming the people there for the incident, because my wife did fall from not noticing the incline, but something like that probably should be addressed and fixed, so it's either not as hard to see, make an adjustment to repair it or let people know as they walk through there to watch their step. They did attend to her to make sure she wasn't injured seriously and all she came out with that was a knot on the head, but really that's the only problem we had with the restaurant.

We visited Bearcat during a busy time, so I understood there would be a wait. However, as someone who works in a licensed and customer service setting, I also know it’s important to be prepared for all scenarios. One staff member (an older woman with a mohawk and tattoos) showed frustration and directed it at the wrong person when there was an issue with our party number. It would’ve been better if the concern was addressed directly to the person who made the booking — in a firm but respectful manner.

Our waitress was friendly but a little off at times — some orders were mixed up, utensils were missing, and a few items didn’t make it onto the plates correctly.

On the positive side, the food itself was very good, which helped balance the experience. For six people, our bill was over $200, so with that kind of price point, I’d expect more consistency in service. I’ll also be adding pictures of the plates we received.

Overall, the experience was okay the food was the highlight, but service definitely has room for improvement.

Arrive early, it is always a long waitlist, plan ahead. Once inside, the wait is worth it. Quick service once seated, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Lots of delicious food to choose from, freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade, reasonable prices for quantity. They also have a nice outdoor setting if you do not want to dine inside. Excellent customer service, one of the best breakfast / brunch restaurants we have dined in, highly recommend.

The worst service I've ever received. 25 minutes of waiting to order when there are 5 tables in the area is absurd. There is a mandatory 20% tip for all parties of 2 or more, so staff isn't incentiveted to do any more than the bare minumum. We were not alone, the tables around us were not attended to as well.

Food was fantastic and worth the wait! Great lattes too. Our server was really dismissive and kept forgetting stuff. She gave the girls next to us a lot of grief and questioning for sending a drink back. They also force a 20% gratuity which could be why she was pretty careless. I’d still recommend this spot and will be back.

Don’t be fooled by the outside. This is a lovely place, with friendly staff and great food! Servers were really up on allergens and were very welcoming. Has a great sunny back patio and is well worth a visit.

I was really excited to try Bearcat Café based on its menu and vibe, but unfortunately my visit fell short due to some hygiene concerns. Several servers were frequently touching their hair and faces and then handling drinks—without washing their hands first. It made me uncomfortable and distracted from what might have otherwise been an enjoyable experience. I hope management will reinforce basic cleanliness protocols to ensure guests can focus on the café’s positives rather than these lapses.

Absolutely come for the pancakes and the scallops and grits and the couyou daddy and the…just all the food. All looked good.

DO NOT come for the drinks. These are the most heavy ice light liquor ones I’ve had here. If you see automatic gratuity…expect something to be off. Can’t wait to come back though.

Blake was absolutely amazing! She was attentive from start to finish, warm, and inviting, and really elevated our whole experience. Her menu suggestions were spot on, especially the drinks, which were perfect. You could tell she genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. Honestly, I’d come back just for her service alone.

P.S. The brisket was fire 🔥
