Menu is not up to date even though it was uploaded 4 months ago. Oxtail is $29, not $19.
Amazing food, superb flavors, spicing, and sides. Super cute interior, would recommend eating in.

I enjoyed my shrimp roti. The roti skin gets a b+ only because my bestie is Trini and I mastered making roti. So far the best I’ve had since I moved back home.

Only thing I would say is they need white meat jerk chicken more often. Other than that everything is amazing. I come 2 hours from Mississippi just to come here and eat!!
Keep up the amazing work

An ok Jamaican spot. For whatever reason, Uber eats only gave me the option to order veggie patties w/coco bread, but not beef or chicken. We also ordered the escovitch fish and oxtails dinner with Mac, rice and peas, cabbage and callaloo. While nothing was bad, it wasn't great either, nor had any particular Caribbean flavor. The fish was probably the most flavorful, but dry. It was delivery but honestly it tastes frozen. The oxtails were well cooked and tender, but I make better(yes that's a brag). The plantains and drinks were good, I liked the ginger lemonade. The veggie pattie was particularly disappointing, mushy and greasy without any discernable flavor. They are close, I would try them again. Maybe I can get a spicy beef patty next time and it'll satisfy my craving like I wanted.

Ha, glad this place is still around. I was a regular about ten years ago and enjoyed the food and going, although it was "mid" according to my co-workers. One time I accidentally dropped the spoon serving the rice and peas (it was hot AF for some reason). Owner acted like I did it on purpose and got all mad, grabbed it out of my hands and gave me a lecture. I had to laugh it off otherwise I would've had been rude back to him. I have not been back since, though. You'd think the food would be better with all that attitude.

Delicious food, great personal service but of course we were only one of two tables there at the time. Atmosphere kind of limited
Parking: Limited but we came at an off time so we were the only ones parked there

As someone who dated someone from Jamaica and lived in Brooklyn for years, I’ll share this: I’ve been coming to Bowell’s since it opened; however! the food and service is inconsistent, sometimes you’ll get pure rudeness with a tasty meal and / or kind service and bland food. They often run out of things on the menu. Since I know what true Jamaican food tastes like I’ll give this place an honest 2/3 out of 5 as of today* I also hope they aren’t selling the people of New Orleans short, under the impression we are from the south and they may think* we don’t know what Jamaican food and culture encompasses
Expect to spend 20/50 for one of two people for a dish&drink and definitely don’t expect a large portion.
1 love
