Buttermilk Drop Bakery is one of my favorite. The atmosphere is a bit out dated but the food makes up for it. I definitely recommend you give it a try.

I ordered my food at 7am thru uber eats. I’m thinking because it early I should get fresh food I GUESS NOT I’m so livid the whole order is a waste of money. The donuts are cold and poorly made at this point I should have asked for coffee donuts instead of glaze because that what I got. My sandwich is very COLD, HARD AND VERY OLD not to mention y'all don’t read I asked for strawberry y'all gave me grape. Customer service sucks and ya’ll don’t know how to take care of paying customers. Mark my words this is the last time I waste my money with this company and I will be sure to let my peers know as well how negligent, you guys are with people’s money and food. Pictures included with this review. AT LEAST MY DOG HAS A GOOD BREAKFAST COMING. SO DISAPPOINTED….

Nice Black owned business. May need to retrain the young woman who works there on customer service. You don't just tell them to ask what a person wants a type it in the register. You have to tell them how you want it done. For instance (true story 2 weeks ago), when a customer comes in you immediately get off your phone. You don't wait 5 minutes for the other person to say to you I know you see that customer there. And when a customer comes in, you don't yell go next door. I love the food here, but you cannot have someone ruin your business, because of poor service. And they have to be managed. BTW I walked out after the item I wanted they didn't have. In the past I would have bought something, but I was in shock how she was just sitting there. The little boy who has worked there since he was 10ish looking on the donut side is well trained or is smart enough to connect the success of the business to his success. I wish you would allow tips on cards. I don't carry cash or when I do I have just enough. I have to apologize for not being a better tipper to him. Last thing since I am writing this on essence a few years ago I had friends in town and I was bragging about the breakfast rice and yall was serving potatoes instead. Always put your best foot out for company not your easiest foot. They didn't spend anything. People can get potatoes anywhere.

Buttermilk Drop Bakery in New Orleans is a true gem, perfectly capturing the nostalgia of McKenzie’s classic pastries. The original buttermilk drop, along with creative variations like lemon and chocolate-covered, are crafted with excellent quality and flavor. Located in the heart of the 7th Ward, the warm neighborhood atmosphere adds to the feeling of being home. Each bite transported me back to Sunday afternoons of my childhood, evoking cherished memories. If you’re seeking an authentic taste of New Orleans and a touch of nostalgia, this bakery is a must-visit. Excellent pastries, impeccable execution, and a heartfelt experience!

Super friendly team and yummy baked goods. They were nice enough to custom make a king cake for us before we left town. The whole family enjoyed it immensely! The apple fritters are enormous and tasty too!
