Excellent selection and friendly staff. Came for a selection of pastries (blueberry scone, frosted cinnamon roll and the apple fritters). The Apple Fritters are the secret landlord of that pastry cooler. Perfect in every way the A.F. didn’t play. Second favorite was the blueberry scone with lots of coconut shreds throughout as well as the juicy blueberries.

This place has great pastries. During Mardi Gras they have the best variety of king's cakes. Sundays they usually have live music outside. It's a great place to hang out!

Went to get a king cake: carnival one. Specified it was filled with ooey gooey cake and then when we cut into it, sadly, it was totally empty. Nothing in the center. Disappointing.

I like the vibe. I like that they're clear about their values. Great location, pull out a table and relax. The employees are kind and helpful. Especially Max & William. Highly recommended for a morning fuel up, to get fabulous cakes, and to enjoy yourself.

The breakfast gumbo and tofu scramble were both delicious. The gumbo was actually surprisingly nicer than some of the gumbo we had at some fancier restaurants (tended to be so salty). Tried the yaka-mein - didn't really care for it but I think it's because I prefer the more asian-style beef noodles. The chantilly cake with berries was also nice and light.
Also to note, there are cups of water available to self-serve. Cafe also has a reasonably clean bathroom, and there was live music right outside.

I am writing to share my disappointing experience with Bywater Bakery. After driving several hours, making special arrangements to visit from out of town, and picking out all the details at our wedding cake tasting, I was informed less than 12 hours later that they would be unable to fulfill my order because they would be closed on my wedding date. I had communicated my wedding date to months ago, and they never indicated any scheduling conflicts or potential closures.
Furthermore, I had to follow up multiple times via email and phone to secure the tasting date and receive information, including pricing, indicating a lack of responsiveness from the beginning.
This last-minute notice and poor communication caused unnecessary disruption to my wedding planning and I could have used the time to engage other vendors.
I understand that businesses may have unforeseen circumstances, but this lack of communication and professionalism is extremely frustrating. I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution when considering Bywater Bakery for their event.
