Be patient if you make a reservation. The food is worth the wait. Enjoy a drink at the cute bar while waiting

The food was just bad, steak cold inside and completely raw. Oysters tasted very fishy, sauce lacked flavor. Drum overcooked and orzo pasta was clearly old, very upsetting as pieces were even hard and dry. The dessert was awful, and recommended by the waiter. The cake had hardened grocery store frosting tasted like it was from last week. My husband has never not finished dessert and he had two forkfuls and couldn't eat more. The cheese board was served with stale bread they tried to cook into crackers? Tasted like stale bread... all the fruit was old and mealy literally with the cheese just thrown on it. The only thing enjoyable was the ravioli which we almost didn't order because it seemed a little random for the menu. Luckily we did or we wouldn't have eaten anything despite ordering half the menu. Hadn't been in a while and thought it'd be a good idea to bring guests, wrong move, very disappointing. Waiter mentioned new management, not sure if that's the situation or jazz fest or it's just gone completely downhill. It's sad because it's a nice environment... with so many great places to eat, don't waste your time.

Spectacular as always. Limited menu for Jazz Fest, which makes complete sense, and still offered standouts like the crawfish ravioli and fish. Good vibes, great wine, cool people, always a good night at Degas!

Cafe Degas is a great place to have brunch. The French onion soup was outstanding as was the omelet & salad. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The ambience was great - cozy and quiet, set in a neighborhood just outside of JazzFest. Highly recommended.

We love this charming restaurant near the fairgrounds. Great spot for dinner after a day at Jazz Fest. Food and drinks are always great and the staff is friendly and helpful.

We really enjoyed Cafe Degas! Cool, festive ambiance with pretty lights out front. We started the meal with the cheese tray which was fine. Four chunks of different cheese and a little fruit with dried French bread. Pretty basic and not very interesting but the cheese was tasty. We all three had the hanger steak which was very good with a delicious flavor. The pomme frites were excellent as were the fingerling potatoes. The chambord cake with raspberry was moist and yummy. They have a nice Chardonnay from Russian River and our server was attentive and friendly. I'd definitely go back.

Everything was wonderful… from the service to the delectable dishes. Must haves include the French onion soup and savory hangar steak,… mouth watering delicious! The ambience is spectacular, making you feel as though you’re truly at a French bistro. Absolutely loved their music & it’s vibe. The only concern was a musty/mildewy smell that lingered, however it is “open air”.. We were seated inside. Overall, a 5 star score!

Degas has and continues to be our go-to restaurant for everything, from the casual Wednesday (when they have live music) dinner to the special occasion. High end food, moderate prices.

Another wonderful evening at the quintessential French Bistro! Our sever, Gus, was on point and delightful. The food was delicious, especially the cheese board and mussels. The cozy restaurant has such a warm and welcoming environment in a great neighborhood

I have been coming to this place as a treat since 1989 when I could come with my racetrack winnings from making show betsand have un bon repas (Oh those profiteroles!). It has had its ups and downs, but today was The Pits! First of all, when I tried to look at the brunch menu at home, I got: "Daily Specials Unavailable Due To Chef Input Error. Please Contact Restaurant." I should have taken it as a sign. We (an elderly couple) drove across town and got to our reservation 7 minutes early. We were unceremoniously sent back out in the rain. Five minutes later a young couple walked up without a reservation and seated themselves on the covered porch. They were brought menus and welcomed. 15 minutes later we overheard the young couple being told they were open, and we went in from the rain, though no one said a word to us. The young couple were seated at a better table and ahead of us. When I mentioned we had been waiting, the server standing behind the hostess said, "I know!" And led us to a table by the nastiest part of the dirty plastic curtains. We were finally seated and given a different menu from those around us who ordered things we would rather have had. The server didn't seem to know much about the menu. I told my SO when she left, "I bet I'll say the first thing in a English and smell try to correct me; then, I'll switch to French and she won't understand." I won. I wanted and asked for a coffee and was told I had to have latte, espresso or americano---which is what I wanted plus espresso-- but they couldn't give me just coffee--fine. After I pointed out to the one of three other people, not our alleged server, who actually attended us partially, that everyone in the restaurant under 40, who arrived and were seated after us, were on their second course-- from another menu which included the quiche I would rather have had--I only got something to eat: the first course, escargot borguignon, just broiled in butter and one tiny chunk of garlic, no bourguignon. No flavour. After 20 minutes of my SO starving and having to point out, again, that people who came after us were finished, we finally got bread and an excuse about the kitchen. We had ordered a salad (good thing as the place setting had only a small salad fork to eat with, and I was never brought anything else) and an omelette-- the brunchiest things on the alt- menu we were given-- hardly a kitchen challenge, and, yes, I've done everything there is to do in a restaurant, including own one. The main course was a giant wilted, brown tangled mountain of "greens" with no perceptible dressing, 4 spiced pecans, 3 tiny slivers of either apple or quince, one large and one tiny slice of beet and a teaspoon of goat cheese. I asked for dressing and got it with a side of snark. It was so thick I had to spoon it on and try to toss the salad in it. One of the random people, not our server, who kept coming to our table, asked how it was going one time to many and I let her know in detail. She got us the free birthday dessert--crême brûlée with rubbery brûlée on top--with a giant browning strawberry in the middle to which I'm allergic and still no coffee. I had to laugh. We just asked for the check. They were also not happy with the fact that we had a WWOZ discount and the server who wasn't speculated, sotto voce, about the probable top. Not all elderly are deaf. I left a good tip hoping the person who actually served us, (I know! ) might get it. I took pix in hopes I could post them ... maybe elsewhere.

The staff was casual but respectful. Summer prix-fix menu specials had something for everyone in our party. Everything was excellent. The atmosphere was casual w/ just a touch of elegance. Just what we were looking for. Sound levels, always an issue for my friends with hearing aides, were perfect. The table was able to hold a conversation without anyone being challenged to hear (a rare treat). I hope you enjoy a trip to cafe degas.
