Definitely a dive - but that's exactly why you want to come here! Friendly service. Solid food at a reasonable price, especially right off Canal. Gumbo was outstanding. Cochon de Lait po boy was a bit of a sloppy mess, but wouldn't hesitate to come back and try more of the menu.

We went on a Thursday night during trivia, which was jeopardy and wheel of fortune playing in the tv, which was fine and everyone was engaged and guessing along. I appreciated there wasn't crazy loud music playing at that time. Bartender was great. Very friendly and attentive.
Unfortunately the food was sub par. I ordered chicken tenders and onion rings. The onion rings were fine, nothing special, but the chicken was thin and dry. The ranch was a little watery and thin so it didn't help much in assisting to the chicken dryness or the flavor. I had honey mustard with my onion rings and that was good.
The poppers were good. Hard to mess those up frozen from a bag, but again, thin ranch.
Hubby ordered the burger. First time out the bun was solid rock. He literally hit it against the bar to show me how hard it was. It knocked. Burger was under done and he has no problem with a rare burger or steak, so for him to say it was under done that's saying somthing.
The bar tender was quick to have the kitchen make him a new burger when he checked on us. He was very attentive the whole time, so we didn't have to flag him down or even ask for a new burger. He explained they were training new kitchen staff. We understand a learning curve with that process. It was disappointing to have our first un amazing meal in NOLA. On top of that we both ended up with upset stomachs that night into the morning. It's our last day here in NOLA, so I'm hoping our stomachs settle and we can enjoy the rest of today.

I have never been to a place that smelled so bad. I was literally gagging and had to go outside. Paid for the food then thought maybe I should just leave cause the place smelled terrible. I did end up getting the food and had to wait to eat it cause the smell made me so nauseous. The food was ok but I think cause of the smell of the bar I couldn't stomach it and threw the rest away. The bartender was really nice though!

A former Louisiana native, friend of mine recommended it when I told him I was coming to NOLA. I had the Alligator Sausage Po'Boy and my wife had the BBQ sandwich. We loved the food and the service. Given that it wasn't a prime tourist time, it was not busy. That was a plus for us.

The drinks are legit, the music is a cool vibe. Take small steps when you’re heading to the loo. It’s slippery as ice back there. I loved this place!!!

Cajun Mikes is the Divest of Dives. Great classic New Orleans pub food at a fraction of the price from places downtown. Great liquor and beer selection. Highly suggest to people looking to get away from the flashy overpriced gimmicks in the quarter.

Game was on, best sweet potatoes fries I've ever had. The muffeletta was amazing as well as the cochan de lait. Good drinks, good service, 10/10 recommend.

This place is the dive bar of dive bars, and not in a good way. We decided to stop in randomly for lunch. Our blunders began as we opened the door, as we were met with an overwhelming wave of a bleach/chlorine smell. On top of that and looking at the state of the place, we should have left immediately, but did not since we were so hungry.
I then ordered a cheeseburger, thinking that it would be quick and easy to prepare so we could leave the gas chamber. Boy, was I wrong. About 10 minutes into the wait, the bartender, who was very nice, informed us that they were out of hamburger buns, and instead were going to have to use French bread. It wasn't a big deal, but 10 minutes turned into 20, then into 30, until I was finally served the worst cheeseburger in New Orleans, possibly in the entire United States. It was like biting into a greasy eraser. It was so inedible that I spit out the first bite and just ate the bread, and the included fries were not much better. This honestly kind of ruined the rest of the day for me, as the reviews online looked good enough for us to try. Rest assured, I will never be returning.

If you're close by it's a good option, food was decent. Ambience is a dive-bar so don't be surprised by rough language, rough smells and rough decor, no kids allowed.
