Best haunt in town. You make your own cocktail sauce. You feel as though you stepped back in time 50 years. Still family owned. Best oysters. It's always a must! Get there early if you want a seat.

This facility had no working restroom on 2/16/2024 and opened for dinner that way. Is that legal? They had a little troll of an employee that shooed you away from trying to go to the facilities. The chargrilled oysters and the oysters on the half shell were very good. The fried shrimp and oysters had pieces that claimed to be shrimp, but they were undiscernable as such because they were Itty bitty with some breading. Everything was super slow, and we arrived early and made the first dinner seating.

The second you walk into this restaurant, you can feel the history in this restaurant. From the use of an old cashier register to pictures showing the restaurant back in 1919. You can feel that this is a well loved local restaurant. What caught our eye with this restaurant was their Chargrilled Oysters. I've never had oysters this was so I had to try them! One of my friends never had oysters and she really liked them. I told her this is probably a good starter oyster for those who don't eat seafood too often. The oysters were filled with garlic and butter, can't go wrong with this combo. To get the most of all the seafood, we ordered the seafood platter which comes with fried oysters, shrimp, crab claws, and a choice of the trout or catfish. We chose the trout and had an order of the catfish as well. This was a ton of food for three people and I feel as though it is a shame to waste seafood. Our favorites were the shrimp and catfish out of the seafood. The fried seafood wasn't too salty which helped as we were eating a bunch of fried food. We didn't like the crab claws as much and could skip that next time. We really enjoyed Casamento's as it's a cute little casual restaurant and reasonably priced! It's cute how there's someone shucking oysters at the front while you wait. If you want some seafood, this is a place you gotta try!

We have visited NOLA 2x per year for the last 4 years just to eat at the best rated restaurants, so this review actually saddens me. Casamento's has been our on list for a while and finally made it on our dinner list on a Thursday night. Unfortunately our experience was absolutely horrible and our waiter Dom should be fired if I owned this place. His lack of service, respect and hospitality was probably the worst I have seen at any restaurant. It was so bad that I actually took a few days to reflect before I wrote this review. And it was not because they were packed, it was us and 4 other tables at 8:30pm. For a place that requires you to wear a jacket the entire dinner service you expect decent service. It was astonishing how bad Dom was, so if you do visit and get him as your waiter you have 2 options. Leave, (what I would do) or request another waiter. Food is not bad, only reason I gave it 2 stars. Definitely won't recommend or visit again.

The oyster shop most tourists don't find as way uptown on Magazine Street. Yes - there is Acme, Felix's, Deanie's, etc. but when I am in town this is my spot. Started in 1938 and I expect decor unchanged. And most of the staff have been here a LONG time. And great! Limited seating. Seafood heavy. We had raw and grilled oysters and then 1/2 po-boys of shrimp and oysters. A taste treat and easy on the wallet.
