If you’ve been thinking about stopping by this place then please do. I’d previously come in here with a friend and it smelled so good that I decided I had to come back. Days later and on my way back, I had to pass a whole parking lot cookout by jazz daiquiris, which was not easy because I really wanted to try the food at chicken and watermelon.

What I can tell you is that it was well worth the wait and the walk. I’m only a few minutes of a drive but I’m a 20 minute walk from the place and honestly, I’d rather walk so I can fit more food in my stomach the next time I decide to try these wings. The Cajun fries were delicious and the Caribbean barbecue flavored wings that I got were the best wings I’ve ever had. I absolutely will be back.
P.S. if you’ve got a large party, you may want to pick up your food since it’s a little smaller on the inside.

Now listen… I wasn’t sure what to expect with a name like Chicken & Watermelon, but baaaaby—they knew what they were doing when they put this menu together!

First off, the chicken? Fried to absolute perfection. Crispy outside, juicy inside, seasoned like somebody's grandma is back there holding the secret recipe hostage. Whether you get wings, tenders, or bone-in pieces, it's always hot, fresh, and finger-lickin' GOOD.

Now let’s talk sides and extras—because yes, the watermelon is real and it’s sweet, but they also have mac and cheese, fries, and other comfort food staples that hold their own. And the portions? Let’s just say you won’t be leaving hungry. Bring your appetite and a to-go box.

It’s got a laid-back, no-frills vibe, and that’s exactly what makes it feel like home. If you’re in New Orleans and craving soul food with a kick and a name you won’t forget—go ahead and pull up to Chicken & Watermelon. They understood the assignment and passed with extra credit. I don't know who came up with the watermelon flavored chicken, but you must try this!

I got a buy one get one free on ubereats for some red beans and rice from here. When I opened the container I thought I smelled a weird smell, but my kids always tease me and say I smell phantom smells so I really thought it was just me initially. Chile when I bit into them beans, the nastiest, most sour taste filled my mouth. They were beyond spoiled! I’m so angry, this should NEVER happen! This will be my first and last time trying chicken and watermelon.

There was short curly black hair on my wings and the fish plate consisted of only a piece of fish. For all of the great reviews this was a huge disappointment.

Chicken and Watermelon 🍉 is like the loyal friend always stepping in at the right time when you need them! The wing special never disappoints! For under $20-25 I’m always able to pig out or treat multiple people and the taste is consistent which tons of restaurants lack these days. There is a wing flavor and something on the menu to satisfy any and everyone. Chicken and watermelon staff feel like family and always make your food fresh which I greatly appreciate! 10/10 will always recommend! #Blackowned as well
