They were out of three items we ordered. The food was terrible. Only decent item was the boneless fried chicken.

An unexpected wow. Great food service and atmosphere. I met a friend in the area to talk business . we arrived before the dinner crowd. We ordered each a bowl of soup and some egg rolls as appetizers . My associate had the Hot sour soap . I had the wanton. Before my soup arrived I saw one of the ladies at a table making the wontons from scratch. I admired her technique. She convinced me to order two different types of dumplings she made from scratch as well. All was top notch. I never write reviews . These people deserve credit for an excellent meal . The food was delicious! The new owners really took it up a level. The inside decor is more inviting, the Shanghai Pop music playing was fun and all the customers were loving it. Will definitely be back!

This used to be my all time favorite Chinese restaurant. I would order at least twice a month and drive 30 minutes to pick it up. After recently having it, not only has the recipe for each dish changed, but the quality has undeniably lowered including portions. It is sad to see a gem of a restaurant dim, but it happens. And after reading other reviews, it seems it’s new ownership so it makes sense. I will give a star for the new updates to the inside, which is nicely done and the friendly staff upon pick up. I hope they take into account the reviews for improvement so the loyal customers of years past can return!

This restaurant is under new ownership. I came there for lunch. It was so good, I brought my family back for dinner. It has a cozy atmosphere.

I'm befuddled about the 3 stars given. My husband and I ate here last Friday night. I realize they are under new ownership and read the reviews so I wasn't sure what to expect, but we decided to give the new China Orchid a try. I am so very happy we did! We frequented this restaurant for the past few years and while not blown away, the food was acceptable. Not anymore. We had a wonderful dinner including my drink! My husband had the vegetable soup which was full of fresh vegetables and had great flavor. I ordered the combination egg foo young. In the past (under the old owners), the egg foo young always seemed to have an added fuller (flour maybe) and the gravy always had a lot of grease floating on top. This time, the dish was what I've always been accustomed. Having originally come from a city with a Chinatown, I expected more and this time, it was near perfection. I wish I remembered the name of the drink I had, but it was garnished with lychee and packed a nice punch. We also had spring rolls which were delicious. The rice was perfect and was grain for grain. The best part of our visit was meeting the owner/staff (Phoebe and Sophie) who took the time to come to our table to make certain we were pleased with our meal (which we were). They are actually Chinese which was refreshing as many "Chinese " restaurants in New Orleans are actually owned by Vietnamese which is not to take anything away from these places, but I was pleasantly surprised. I know we will be making many more visits to this establishment in the future compared to the past as the "new" China Orchid exceeded our expectation!

Tried this place for the first time. Ordered pickup online but didn't check my food at the restaurant. I ordered a sesame chicken combo dinner which should come with fried rice and an egg roll, but they gave me the regular dish with white rice and no eggroll. Otherwise, it was fine. Sauce was bland and overly sweet. Service at the counter was fast and friendly.

What once was isn’t anymore. The restaurant has new owners now and have upgraded the inside. However, the food is much to be desired, and the takeout portions are much much smaller. I’m live in the area but unfortunately will not return until I see positives review in the near future.

China Orchid has been my go-to Chinese place in the uptown area for a decade. It appears as if they recently acquired new management as the style of my go-to dishes has changed completely. Unfortunately, I don’t think the changes are successful. I found the fried rice very mediocre and the General Tso’s chicken flavorless and significantly lower in quality than what I’m used to them serving. I’m very disappointed as I have been a loyal customer for a long time and the quality of the food has gone down significantly. It’s gone from a higher end, good quality Chinese to very generic and low quality, no different than a joint in the mall. I will have to look for a new go-to Chinese place.

Came in with only one other customer in the whole restaurant, and three front of house staff. I placed my order and waited 45 minutes, until the staff remembered that they had not put my order in to the kitchen. I immediately left.

Interior of China Orchid has been totally redone. The new owner is bring a fresh feel to this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and they welcome suggestions that may improve your experience here. If you have been here before you will notice the changes inside immediately. I'm looking forward to the menu changes they are planning.Highly recommend and will be a regular at this restaurant.Come and enjoy.A. J. Boudreaux

Sophia and Gene wereexcellent. If you are in the French quarter take the St. Charles trolley to riverbend. Its worth the scenic ride. The service is better than most places in the French quarter. The food and drinks are excellent.
