This hole in the wall place has stolen our heart. From the outrageously funny workers, to the amazing food, and all around great atmosphere, Coop's will be a must visit destination for us and our friends every time we visit NOLA.

Had high hopes, but unfortunately never even got the chance to order. Very rude! We were overlooked several times because we didn’t realize a certain beer was on the menu. Walked out and went down the road to the French market. I would suggest no one go here and spend your money!!!
Incredible food. Wonderful service.

So sad. Finally at Coop’s when it was not crazy busy but the food was so disappointing. Years ago we loved the place but the gumbo was watery as was red beans and rice. Gumbo had no hint of a good roux.

I’d have pictures but our amazing waiter threatened us to keep the cellphones in our bags and just enjoy the food, each other, and honestly, just joking around with him. I had the fried chicken with jambalaya and it was delicious from the first to the last bite. I haven’t laughed to tears so hard in all my life. Go and keep your cellphones in your bags. Enjoy the food, each other, and the people around you.

Great gumbo. Had the taste plate and it was a great way to try a little bit of everything.
The Coop’s tasting plate was so delicious and flavorful and exactly what my friends and I were looking for to try some New Orleans staples. Hole-in-the-wall feel with amazing meals!

5 stars!! Amazing bartenders, especially Raigan. Her vibes made the night and had me laughing non stop. She needs a parade in her name ! Will def be making a visit back again from Australia.

This place made me so uncomfortable. I don't know what was going on, but the hostility in the air was palpable. It was an hour before close so I ordered stuff that I knew would be fast, the jambalaya which wouldn't be made fresh, and the quesadilla, which cooks fast and doesn't mess up a flat top, and asked for to go boxes. The place is small. Still, the person at the door told me I had to keep my ID out, even though she just checked it, so I left it on the bar. The bartender looked at it and threw it back down so hard it bounced at me. They looked so angry I was there. They were cold and rude to everyone, including the BOH staff that ran my second plate. They kept the music off so the only thing there was to listen to was their conversation, which I tried to tune out but was them complaining about something. I tried to lighten the mood by making a joke when one of them ran into a chair next to me but she just slapped my plate down and pretended she didn't hear me. It was the most awkward dining experience. The food was also not very good - the jambalaya mostly tasted like tomato paste and the quesadilla was drowning in some sort of sweet sauce?
The only reason I'm giving Coop's more than one star is that it's possible they thought I was ICE since I'm middle aged, white, eating at a place in the quarter that wasn't easy to get to because of construction, and from out of state. I'm not, I'm a nurse in town to serve the community, but ICE agents should feel unwelcome and be treated with hostility everywhere they go. So if that's why you guys made me feel bad for being so excited to try your food that I'd wind through all the creepy construction barricades by myself at night, you did good.

Coop’s Place came highly recommended by a number of locals. It is a short walk from Frenchmen St.
If you’re looking for a local dive near all the jazz bars, Coop’s place is where you want to go!
The drinks are strong and the food was some of the best I had in New Orleans.
I tried the seafood gumbo, the red beans and rice which have chucks of ham hock and the friend chicken. All were amazing and I had the alligator bites in my second visit.
Marissa is my favorite bartender in the city.
She not only provided me a list a local spots to visit but told me I was going to order too much food and was correct as the portions are very generous.
I had a blast sitting at the bar and the Bloody Mary was excellent!

When in new Orleans you asked the locals where they get their fried chicken, this was the spot. Damn I wish I got more 😂

We stopped in for a snack and got crabbed stuffed jalapeños and fried crawfish. They were just ok, not very strong and flavorful, and easily overwhelmed instead of complemented by the horseradish and cocktail sauce. The jalapeños were not spicy. Inside, seating is a little tight and you are directed by a lone waitress from across the loud room. This place was recommended to us by someone we ran into at our hotel but we are not sure quite why based on our visit.
