Cool speakeasy recommended by tasting table
Beautiful space and atmosphere, great bartenders, excellent cocktails. Anytime I'm seeing a show at the Orpheum, I start here.

Rushed through traffic and crowds in the city where I live to meet a friend I haven’t seen in a long time. Was wearing a dress and new flat sandals (it’s not like wearing sandals in the French Quarter or wearing cheap shoes to some high falutin’ joint) but I was told I couldn’t enter because of my shoes. Brand new $165 shoes… There is a lot I could say here or could’ve at the time, but quite frankly, that’s more than this place deserves. Hilarious.
This place sucks. Over sugared “cocktails” good music but you gotta get by the crappy drinks st extortionist prices. Not to mention the door man is really a douche bag.

We were really looking forward to this after seeing Hamilton at the Saenger. However, the door guy, who was nice otherwise, turned us away because we were wearing “sandals”. We were dressed very nice given we had just seen a Broadway play, but yes, my mother and I were wearing open-toed platform shoes in the spring. I thought mine were quite lovely-I just paid $200 for them that day. Bummer. Would have loved to have left a great review, but got denied entry. The midwestern couple wearing sketchers got in, so I guess next time I’ll just dress down.
This is the place to go when you want something that feels special and classy and unique. The atmosphere is perfect - lightning, curtains, vaudeville flourishes, all really come together well to set the mood. The live music is just the right kind of vibe and volume too. Lots of classic cocktails that are done well and with care. And like others have said, its out-of-the-way nature keeps the big crowds out and really keeps it peaceful and relaxing.
There was one disappointment, though. One of the unique features that makes this place special is the ability to sit in a private booth, draw the curtains, and flip a switch that turns on a red light when you’re ready for a drink. We tried this several times and were ignored entirely. It was so weird that I stepped out to make sure that the light was visible and sure enough it was. Staff simply didn’t respond for reasons I don’t understand. That was the only negative for us.

I'm obsessed with double bar! We hosted our book and sip club here and the vibes are warm and welcoming, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the owner goes above and beyond to make you feel special. The decor stands out, very creative and original! The combination of great atmosphere, outstanding staff, and generous ownership makes this bar a must-visit. 5+/5 stars! Thank you Dominick for all your accommodations 💖!
