Outstanding experience in this old school classy establishment. Shrimp creole and gumbo were terrific, delicious remoulade and very impressive wine list. Service was first rate. Definitely worth another visit.

Lovely visit to this place. Don't normally go to restaurants where a blazer is essential dress code (never really) but this was like going back in time. The food was authentic. The service spot on by a very friendly and efficient team. The restaurant was extremely busy and very noisy, think a couple of guests could have been asked to tone it down a little but overall a great experience, Huge wine menu, very French driven. We shared the shrimp cocktail then had. The duck and the bouillabaisse? Followed by coffee and a digestive.

Our first time in New Orleans and we did not want to miss this famous restaurant. The menu was filled with the tried and true steaks and chops while the New Orleans food vibe teased my taste buds. Our server was outstanding and very helpful in making our choices. The drinks were well made and our food was most flavorful. It has the atmosphere of your finer restaurants while making you feel most welcome at the same time. Dare I say that experience was most enjoyable.

Reservations are must. We sat in the back where it was less noisy. Attire is business casual. Food was good. I had a Filet Mignon and it was excellent. My husband had the Bouillabaisse, which he described as excellent. We shared a bread pudding that was very tasty as well. Waiter forgot one of our items to share with our meal and so he gave us the dessert for free. Bread was warm and tasty. Kind of expensive and everything is a-la-carte. Location is excellent if you are in the French Quarter.

This restaurant raises several questions. On the web site, the “dress code” (men: Shirt with collar and jacket) indicated, when you arrive, then 1⁄3 of the guests sit there in the T-shirt. What are you doing? Either-or! I found it very nice to see the service staff there dressed very well, why not the guests? A second point: The main room is EXTREMELY noisy! We couldn't even understand our supervisor's daily recommendations! Not to mention a half-reasonable conversation at the table.... A restaurant with THIS quality standard should be able to defend itself against rioting/roaring guests, right? Now for the essentials: the service is extremely friendly and competent - on request there is even a sommelier with good tips! And when you eat, you understand why this place is so well rated! NOTHING is extreme, the dishes absolutely perfectly tasted and balanced! The heaviness of the cheese is softened with subtle acidity in the gratin, the snails melt on the palate and the shrimp creole show a depth and balance that cannot be described. Great!

Galatoire's is a New Orleans institution which still maintains a dress code requiring jackets for men. I have no problem with that. They are right on Bourbon Street two doors down from a strip club. Bourbon Street is full of contrast. Anyway, the dinner we had was excellent, nice relaxed atmosphere and professionally served by Sonny. In all a delightful evening at a fine restaurant.

If I could give the service here a zero, I would. Our waiter Thomas was incredibly inattentive and dismissive when we voiced issues with our service. One person in our party ordered a filet done medium with a side sauce. The filet came done rare and without the sauce. We had to flag Thomas down as the limited times he stopped at our table he would merely drop something off without a word and turn and walk away. After the filet came back it was still not cooked as ordered. It was medium rare at best and we had to ask again for the sauce that was ordered with it. Another person in the party ordered a second cocktail, which never came. We weren’t asked how the bill was to be split and when we asked if it could be divided we were met with attitude and the response that it would take too long to separate the bill. He did ultimately split it but it was incorrect and upon bringing this to his attention he rolled his eyes and told us he needed to walk away, implying that we, the customers, were frustrating him. Thomas never once asked how our meals were, if we needed anything we would have to flag him down. For a fine dining establishment this missed the mark on so many levels. Worst dining experience in NOLA by far.

Loved the atmosphere. Wanted dress up and after 5 jackets required. Waitress was very attentive. My wife’s dish was delicious, but my Poisson Meuniere Amandine, although flavorful, was very dry almost to the point of being not edible.

Very disappointed. Food was not as advertised. Food was so bad we literally threw away the leftovers that we could not bear to finish and went to Crystal burgers across the street
