Gateway Lounge in New Orleans is a great spot to unwind with friends, offering a laid-back vibe and some surprisingly tasty bites. The tacos here are a crowd favorite, packed with flavor and perfect for pairing with a cold drink. The queso is another highlight—smooth, cheesy, and ideal for sharing. The lounge itself is welcoming and has a local, relaxed feel, making it a great place to stop by, especially if you’re in the area and looking to take a break from walking around the city.

Gateway Lounge is a casual gem that feels authentic to New Orleans, with a friendly atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. It’s well-suited for both locals and visitors who want a low-key spot to kick back and enjoy some good food and drinks.

Vegetarian options: The menu includes vegetarian-friendly items such as nachos and cheese-based dishes. However, the selection is limited, so it’s advisable to inquire with the staff about specific vegetarian offerings.

Dietary restrictions: The staff is accommodating and willing to adjust dishes to meet dietary needs. It’s recommended to inform them of any specific restrictions to ensure a suitable dining experience.

Parking: Situated in the bustling French Quarter, parking can be challenging. Nearby public parking lots and street parking are available but may be limited during peak times. Utilizing ride-sharing services or public transportation is often more convenient.

Kid-friendliness: The lounge maintains a casual environment, making it suitable for families during daytime hours. However, given its location on Bourbon Street, the atmosphere can become more adult-oriented in the evenings.

Wheelchair accessibility: Specific information about wheelchair accessibility at Gateway Lounge is not readily available. Given the historic nature of many French Quarter buildings, accessibility can vary. It’s advisable to contact the establishment directly to inquire about accommodations for wheelchair users.

Walked in and it was only my 2 friends and I inside. The middle aged blonde lady took a long time to take our order. She was not very friendly at all. We ordered drinks and 2 jello shots and then she seem to get friendlier (prob because she knew those everclear shots were gonna make us barf later....which they did). There are plenty of other frozen cocktail places on Bourbon street. Don't waste your time here.

Once upon a time there was four young jesters, they didn’t know their jester status quite yet but once we walked through these doors it had begun.

They walked to the counter and saw 151 and 190 proof in one drink. The birth of four young jesters.

Little did these young jesters know they would be in something known as the jhole. The jhole can be defined as… actually I’ll let you find that out once you start sipping on that jester.

Closing statements, you know what to do after this review. Please have a jester for us and enter the jhole at your own risk.

Wasn't to bad, service was nice and quick and they even offered to take a picture of our whole group for us. Had em throw an extra shot in my drink to help balance out all the sugar but all and all was a good experience for me and everyone with us. Also was not to busy when we stopped here so plenty of seating!

WARNING!!! For your safety, do not go here!!The girls panhandle shots out side and then charge $25-$40 per shot. When she was not tipped per her liking, she verbally assaulted my friend. When he called her a bi$&@ she punched him in the head and then me.The NOPD did nothing!

Me & my partner were walking down the street & I felt a women pull on my arm while screaming “Free shots” to then be offered a choice of what shot. The lady then pulled me in with the shot glass entering my mouth and told me it was $15 each. I was told the shots were free and felt forced to pay after the fact.Dishonest business, I decided to report this to both the better business bureau so they can do a report as well as sent a letter to the mayors office.Stay away - also, if you’re the owner of this bar please note I also reported your fraud and scams to the credit card processing companies too.

Well, they aren't the most friendly folks....really didn't even "want" our business so, we bailed.

This place was great. Nice place to sit. Great bartenders. Cheap and delicious tacos, nachos, etc. Queso was delicious. Great draft and bottle selection. Prices are about average and I would definitely come here for food again.

Some of the best bartenders on the block. A no frills place to sit down and have a beer.

Everything in Nola has been an amazing experience but this place displayed an unfortunate experience of sexist bs that was unwarranted and uncalled for. Standing in line for 10 min we were passed on ordering what were hopefully delicious burritos because a group of guys from Miami believed they were more important. Unfortunately this is the only negative experience in Nola and would not recommend supporting such a lousy business.

Service isn’t great but the chips and queso are amazing. Got a 30ounce piña colada. Should of got a small. Overall, if you want cheap, good food... not a terrible spot.
