The food is great, the drinks are mediocre. We attended this establishment on a Saturday with a 5pm reservation. We ordered appetizers, drinks, & main entrees. As we ordered our last round of drinks we asked to close the tab. While finishing the drinks and not shortly after paying we were asked to vacate for incoming patrons. This left a very sour taste in our mouth considering we had to slam our drinks and move from our seats where we as a party of two spent $200 for an 1hr & 1/2 meal. If we would’ve known there was a time limit we would’ve left much earlier. It was sad that we were asked to leave right after paying.

Gris-Gris was recommended to my wife and I before our trip to New Orleans.

We did go there and were glad we did. The food was creative and some of the best tasting we had during our several days there.

We ordered the chicken and andouille gumbo as well as the catfish and cajun poboy (along with a few drinks). The meal was outstanding and one of the highlights of our time in New Orleans. The kitchen for Gris-Gris is unique in that it's open and in the main dining room on the first floor. My wife and I wanted to see up close so we sat by the counter right next to where the kitchen is.

I would also like to add that we happened to spend a few minutes talking to Eric Cook (chef / owner) of Gris-Gris. As was true of people we met in New Orleans, Eric was fun, interesting and engaging to talk to. We asked if he had a recommendation for a jazz club, which he was happy to share with us (among them The Spotted Cat).

Great restaurant, great owner.

We attended witches brunch last weekend and had a great time, great food, and amazing service! Thyme was our amazing server and we had a blast with her. She made excellent suggestions, kept us laughing, and our drinks filled. She is truly a treasure of Gris Gris and we can’t wait to come back and dine with her again soon.

We are not tourists...we try to support local eateries so they don't close down. We are also not big eaters so we ordered drinks and food because we were really hungry. But the food came after 55 minutes. It was as if we were being punished for not ordering appetizers!! It was very disappointing!!

We just left Gris Gris and it was possibly the worst experience we had at a restaurant. Lindsey was our waitress, didn’t smile, left us sitting there for 45 minutes while we waited for our food without checking in on us. After everyone upstairs left and we were the only ones my husband finally asked about our food and she said it’s being plated. 10 minutes pass and still no food- it was officially an hour wait at our table without our food- so we had to just get up and leave and be late to where we needed to go.

We came in without a reservation for a party of 5 and they were able to accommodate our group at the kitchen bar. We loved the open kitchen concept and it was fun to see the chefs at work! The food was incredible, no notes. Comfort food to the max but not too heavy. Highlight for most of us was the gumbo, and my swordfish was cooked to perfection. Thanks for a great meal and experience, Gris Gris team!

I started my Bachelorette weekend with an impromptu stop at Gris-Gris with 8 of my friends. We didn't have a reservation and it was just after lunch time, so I was nervous a restaurant would not be able to accommodate us on such short notice but Gris-Gris was up for the challenge. They got us seated outside no problem. The staff were welcoming and wonderful. They handled our group with ease and the food was delicious to boot! When I next return to New Orleans, I will be sure to stop in and thank them. It was the perfect start to our weekend!

I stumbled upon this place while exploring the area and getting hungry, and I'm so glad I did! The atmosphere was great for a Saturday afternoon, with everyone looking for brunch. Holly and Alexa were fantastic, especially Holly, who handled a difficult situation with a slightly unhinged customer like a pro. As someone who works in hospitality, I was impressed with how she kept the situation under control without affecting anyone nearby. Even with the place being busy, I never felt overlooked, which can happen when you're dining solo. The food was awesome, and the drinks were fantastic—just be careful with the frozen daiquiri, or you'll find yourself buzzed by 1:00 in the afternoon! Overall, a great spot to visit.

The portion sizes here have gone down tremendously even though the prices remain consistent. Service was great and the staff was lovely.
