Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken

No clucking around - just good old fashioned Louisiana fried chicken.
We tried a mixture of chicken but the thighs were the highlight, without a doubt the juiciest fried chicken I’ve ever sampled. A simple recipe perfected.
The sides were all delicious, especially the slaw, BBQ beans and Mac N Cheese.
Soul food, unlimited sodas and 40oz beers - what more could you want?

I was served my drink in a styrofoam cup with no straw. Then I ordered, and the food was great besides the bread not being toasted, like you would have expected. Then after I finished my meal I was given my starter of fried green tomatoes which was also great. Overall the food was good, but quality of the tell restaurant was not the best.

I was a little bit disappointed with the high rating. The fried chicken is good, however nothing beyond ordinary. It was a weekday, and only one server was serving all the tables. The server was nice but the service was so slow because of the lack of staff. We waited 40 minutes for our food and 30 minutes for our bill. This place also had numerous flies, which made the dining experience unpleasant. There were 5 flies on my table at one point.

Service was extremely slow. The chicken was good but a tad spicy. Sides and drinks and desserts were all excellent

The best fried chicken I’ve had ever! Light, crispy, fresh, not too spicy, just enough.
The fried green tomatoes are great, Mac n cheese was really good. Wish I had ordered 2 slices of the coconut pie. The staff were friendly and efficient. I did carry out, it was really overall one of the better meals I’ve had in 26 years of coming to New Orleans. Not like 5 star restaurant, just solid, delicious and well executed.

We have tried Gus's in Houston, Austin and now New Orleans. Let me tell you they did not disappoint! Food was amazing! I must say NOLA you may have Texas beat! Although everything tasted the exact same deliciousness you expect from Gus's I believe I could taste the pride and love just a bit more here! The chicken is always EXTREMELY juicy! The spice is on point! The sides are packed with flavor and the sweet tea hits! We came in around 2pm and we're followed by a large group in a bus. The employees didn't look frustrated at all, despite a group of 40 or more walking in. They put their heads down and got down!! Taking care of everyone. The open window is great! Love the atmosphere! Great food. Have to say, I loved the beans.

Omg this chicken was so juicy. Perfectly seasoned and the sides were also delicious. I definitely want to go back when I visit.

Wow the fried chicken is cooked to perfection the skin on it is amazing full of flavor exactly what u expect from Louisiana fried chicken full of flavor, the staff was very friendly mac and cheese was ok it could be better and seasoned fries are good

We stumbled upon Gus’s after shopping at the outlets on Riverwalk. The reviews were strong and fried chicken sounded perfect for lunch. Their chicken is hands down the best fried chicken I’ve ever had at a restaurant! It was also a great price - and for those who have visited NOLA before, you know it can be a pricey city! You must try it!
