It's good for what it is. An old school bakery. Not anything. Very exciting or unique to be found. Nothing savory but the croissants which are not worth getting. If you're looking for a cake, a wedding cake, or a more traditional New Orleans style pastry, this is the place to go. Go. If you're looking for something unique, there are lots of other small bakeries around the city that provide that

Ordered a birthday cake there and emailed them a photo I found online for inspiration. I was surprised to see how good it ended up, it was better than the photo! We got it for my son's Brick themed 5th bday party at Bricks and Minifigs on Metairie Road. I have his name blotted out, it was on the front of the cake. My son picked out chocolate cake with chocolate between the layers. It was very good with the vanilla icing and parents and kids alike loved it and complimented it! Thank you, Haydel's!

I inquired about purchasing a Bead Dog and David Haydel said that he would get back to me. I asked a second time and no response. This was many months ago. Obviously they are very proud od their beloved dogs and you must have to bend the knee or kiss the ring just to get a price! SMH!

In my humble opinion, this is one of a handful of top bakeries in the New Orleans area. The Cakes and pastries taste magnificent (especiallythe chocolate doberge cake), and the staff goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you need.
