Wow. Was a superb experience, food was amazing. as a family restaurant the children were also part of the service staff We shared a avocado appetizer, we definitely recommend We shared the pasta dish with crab cake and salad, so tasty and plenty of food
100% worth the walk out of town to I-tal. Great selection of food and all so fresh. Make sure you check opening days and hours as you don’t want to miss out. Crispy mushrooms that could be mistaken for chicken and spicy sauces are a must. Would love to see some plantain on the menu.
This was favorite meal this week in NOLA. You can build your own plate with proteins and sides at a reasonable price. Staff was friendly and food was delivered quickly. I had the avocado fries to start. They were soft and warm and came with a spicy dipping sauce. Then I had the jackfruit ribs in a sweet smoky barbecue sauce. Delicious and was my favorite thing. The Mac and cheese was creamy and had a hint of curry. The black-eyed peas were rich in flavor and mixed with quinoa. Brussels sprouts were charred and perfection. I selected the lemon-pepper oyster mushrooms as the last protein and they were crispy and delicious. It’s all filling and wonderful. Highly recommend!
Sketchy location but at least it is not a drunk fest location with tons of seafood option. Pure vegan comfort food. Lots of fried options but also some healthy options. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-27
Being from New England, Ive never had the chance to try soul food. Now I know why it’s considered that! Absolutely incredible in every way! The Mac and cheese was perfect, the green beans were delicious, i lovedddd the cauliflower. If they were open later hours, I would have been back another day too but it never fit in our travel plans! I loved this place!!! The service was quick for us, FYI😄
The food was decent but nothing special, there was quite a strong smell of fried food/stale air as soon as we entered the premises
This place was highly recommended by friends who had visited before, so I had high hopes. My boyfriend and I (both vegan) both agreed that the food was decent, but not incredible. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow. We ordered our food at the same time (almost identical meals), but he got his food a good 20-30 minutes before I got mine. I expected to be able to eat my meal at the same time as the person I'm dining with. Then we had to remind them about our drinks we'd ordered. On top of all that, we realized they'd forgotten part of his meal and had to show them the receipt so they could bring it out later. We love supporting vegan restaurants, but 3 stars is as high as I can honestly rate this place.
I love everything I have had here especially the BBQ jackfruit. And I wasn’t a fan of jackfruit until I tried this.
Excellent food. Great to have a vegan plant based option to Creole cuisine. Food is delicious. If it is your first visit try the make you own playe so you can try a alot of different sides. The buffalo and Sriracha barbecue sauces both have a nice kick to them.
In town for 2 nights and searched for healthy vegan food. I loved the food and ambience. The 3 stars is because the 2 ladies at the counter obviously didn’t want to be there. I was at the counter waiting as she finished up with a customer but then she didn’t greet me, just went to her phone, almost annoyed that I called to get her attention. The other sister came over with my food, didn’t bother greeting me or making sure it was all there (it wasn’t) and didn’t bother telling me that some food I ordered was sold out (even though I had already paid for it). So off putting, I wanted to post on social media about a black owned vegan spot so bad. Although you should treat everyone with respect, you truly never know who’s walking through your door.

This place was great! My mother is a vegan and while I’m not a vegan, I do like to eat vegetarian a lot. Mom doesn’t live here, and where she does live doesn’t have any vegan restaurants, so we like to try out a few places when she’s here. I-Tal was amazing!!
The Jackfruit Ribs and Avocado Fries were AMAZING! Mom didn’t like the cauliflower wings or the roasted potatoes, but I loved them! I didn’t like the greens or the Mac and cheese, but she loved it. Staff was super sweet. Don’t go if you’re starving—the food does take a while because they make everything to order, so EVERYTHING is super fresh! Def deserves a 5 Star. I can’t wait to go back and try more!

Beautifully decorated space with amazing food and staff! The food is a great blend of Jamaican and Soul dishes and flavors. I got a plate and everything on it was great. The mac was one of the best I’ve had since going vegan, the oyster mushrooms were perfect, but the ribs were probably the standout. I went with a non-vegan friend and she also loved everything she got including the mac. I ended up saving my leftovers for a flight later that day and the food held up wonderfully. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area!

Traveled here for vacation and had to try this.
Impressed with the cauliflower wings, and the nourishment bowl, the fried oysters and shrimp burger are out of the world
Still feel bad about missing the jackfruit wings
If you held a gun to my head and asked what could they do better, it would be to reduce the fried options and add air fried / baked ones
