Small place on a cool street. I was visiting NOLA and has never been to Freret. What a cool area, and Iacovone is worth the visit. Delicious food and really friendly, helpful chef

We stumbled into Iacovone and for a moment thought we had come into the wrong place. The restaurant is a hole in a wall that looks so decrepit from the outside, only the "Open" sign convinced me that it was actually a working restaurant. Then, when you walk in, there were two small plastic tables with a few plastic chairs. So it's then a little jarring at the counter to look at the menu of the day and see serious food for prices that are extremely reasonable for serious food (but still more than you have ever paid in a place that has a bit of an eating in a Subway feel to it). But don't let that dissuade you. Because this is indeed incredible food at very reasonable prices, and the advantage of being in a tiny hole in the wall is that you almost can't help but chat with the Chef/Owner/Sole Employee who has a great story to tell about his journey through the food world and his love for New Orleans. Iacovone was the last restaurant we visited on a three week vacation across multiple countries where we ate incredibly well. It was a fitting last stop. Make sure to give it a try on your next visit to the Crescent City.

Ate at Iacavone 2x in 2 days and had everything from curry to crab lasagna to crawfish. Wow was it amazing. It's owned by a small husband and wife team, and he used to be a chef at top Nola restaurants. Family and inviting feel, all kinds of options and it's very reasonable. Recommend heartily!

Delicious food! I had the butter chicken curry with mango chutney which was superb, and the goat cheese beet salad to go for dinner which was also delicious. My friend had the gazpacho and sweet heat pork tacos, and she loved her food too. This place is a total hole in the wall (mostly to-go orders; only 2 small tables), but the food is fantastic! Thanks, Chef Bob Iacovone! Construction next door is annoying, but the food is great!)

Best steak I've eaten in a long long long time! AND, it was takeout!!!! A bit pricey but this $31 meal could have fed two!

This place is walking distance from where I live, and I am continually impressed. The price is moderate but the value is excellent. I got the pasta with what appeared to be and tasted like fresh, handmade bowtie noodles. Just that would have made my day, but the sauce was delightful without being overbearing (I'm looking at your Ocean sauce, Adolfo). Quality ingredients and exquisitely prepared eggplant rounded out the dish. The french bread was perfectly crisp. The presentation was top notch. Better than I've had at several fine Italian restaurants that specialize in fresh pasta dishes double the price of this one. Quickly and expertly prepared fresh, absolutely delicious.

Update: Just ordered the sweet heat spare ribs and went to heaven! (comes with incredible mashed potatoes and slaw). Y'all!

Have had take out 2x since they reopened. Round 1. I did the duck debris and waffles. The waffle was made with cornbread base. Delicious. My wife did the stuff pasta. Very good as well. Round 2 (last night so I have better recollection of the food) I did the pork tenderloin on top of the white bean chorizo stew with sweet glazed collared greens. Tenderloin was cooked right consistently clean taste. The chorizo stew and collards added the flavor kick to this dish. The tenderloin was sliced into bite sized pieces so it was possible to get the perfect bite of pork/stew/greens with each bite. Wife did the short rib with the garlic mashed potatoes and sprouts. Also yummy The caliber of food coming out of that little kitchen while they are still dealing with post ida repairs is unreal. Can't wait to try when they dining room is open again.

Ordered some takeout: the grilled cheese with the curry vegetable soup, it was amazing! I dipped the sandwich in the soup and it was unreal. Def go!

Horrible service. Beware. They will take your money and then cancel your order 45 minutes later.

Wonderful food and great menu variety! Sauces had layers of flavor and the dishes were cooked to perfection. The raspberry bread pudding was divine!

Oh my!!! If you have a discerning palate which is difficult to please this is the place for you!! I had the butternut squash soup with grilled cheese, my friend had the Mediterranean rice bowl with grilled chicken. Both dishes had perfectly balanced flavors which were delightful. By far the best meal we've had in NOLA

Excellent food! What I've always wanted - high quality takeout and a place that cuts the fuss out of having a "dining experience". There is already plenty of that on the New Orleans scene (which takes itself a little too seriously and is often a huge expense and hassle). Apparently the chef here was trained in some of the top restaurants here, and it shows. Yum!
