Took my mom fresh off a short stint in the hospital and she absolutely loved it everything was freshly fried golden brown, best Hurricane I had in some years!

We had the shrimp and redfish Po'boys and fried frog legs. Genuine Louisiana Cajun flare, food and service. Definitely visiting again.

Yeah, I know... another review with nothing but 5 stars? Seriously, I try not to visit anyplace that doesn't have at least 4.5 stars. And this is my 4th or 5th visit to this slightly more than a hole in the wall in the east Bywaters area.

I've had something different pretty much every visit. The PoBoys are really good. The Grilled Redfish is fantastic. Come hungry. And if you've got 6 or more people, you might finish an order of the onion rings. They're really good, but don't spoil your main course.

I'll be back.

This place has completely went down. I'm from New Orleans. I know seafood. I grew up on Jack Dempsey seafood. The
Fries ..not crisp not hot. Fish not seasoned or crispy either. Whoever made the potato salad... Rush job. It was just thrown together. No utensils or condiments unless asked for... unbelievable! Read that again..No utensils unless you ask for them. I bragged on this place so much, I had to make-up more excuses to cover-up my bragging. I was so embarrassed! I do not recommend Jack Dempsey anymore.

The soft shell was soooo big and plump and cooked just right! The stuffed artichoke soup was delicious. The broiled redfish pontchartrain had crabmeat on top. My redfish was slightly fishy, others did not have fishy fish. Order the large onion ring…. Holy moly they were amazing! Now let’s talk about the baked macaroni and cheese…. I am very particular with this dish and it was SOOOO good, sounds crazy but true. Be careful for parties of 6 there is an 18% included tip and THEN ANOTHER suggested tip of 18% at the bottom…. That is sneaky! But our server. Chelsea was great and very entertaining…. Even though she”didn’t work here!” lol

Jack Dempsey is still here. I enjoyed fellowshipping with my friends. If you have a big appetite for seafood at a wonderful cost, it is the place to go. The gumbo wasn't too good but the fish, shrimp and oysters were great.

Nice traditional spot in the Bywater. We visited thanksgiving eve and was surprised to find soft shell crab on the menu. Service was good and friendly, despite being the eve of thanksgiving. I’m sure many were eager to start their holiday and appreciated the hospitality.
