I had friends in from out of town and Jack Rose is always a vibe. However, on a Wednesday night their service was ridiculous. We had to ask the bus boy to get our server on multiple occasions, finally involved a manager. They took care of our drinks, but there are too many amazing restaurants in New Orleans to have that poor quality of service at that price point.
I was disappointed - not with the restaurant but by my own expectations. I expected more of a fine dining experience, with multiple servers, careful food delivery and timing, and servers trained for correct table service. (although the servers were very good and tried their best). This restaurant is aesthetically beautiful, with lovely rooms. But the ambience in general is busy and loud. A place to be seen, but not heard! We were seated in the middle of the room and shouted to...
Jack Rose is often overlooked and that is a mistake. This was our 2nd time in a few months, and it was outstanding. We are locals which means we have a ton of options, obviously. Do not miss out on the garlic bread app (more like king cake), the banana leaf speckled trout, and the cookies and milk dessert (very elevated). Cheers!
