To give you a sense of the kind of service and care, the waitress informed us that she does not give a check until asked so that people can stay at the table as long as they like and not feel rushed. The owner is a wonderful character. He makes you feel like family and that is part of what makes the atmosphere so pleasant. Of course it's a restaurant. So it's the food that's most important. I had the grilled fish of the day .I can't recall having a better seasoned and cooked fish. Everything was wonderful. A little quirk is that they do not have hard liquor on the menu. It's available, but don't expect any exotic drinks. We will be returning.

My fiancé and I visited Jamila’s for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and treated like family. Moncef took care of us our entire visit and added to our wonderful experience - we are so thankful we have made a friend in him. Beautiful food, even more beautiful people. Thank you to Chef Jamila and Moncef for sharing their culture with us! We can’t wait to come back - because we WILL be coming back!

Amazing hidden gem, so glad we decided to come here ! It’s an incredible little restaurant ran by a husband and wife for over 30 years, they are so personable and down to earth and genuinely grateful for your service!

Everything about our visit to Jamila’s Café was charming: the ambience, the food, and our warm and generous hosts Moncef and Jamila. It was a special dinner on our last night in NOLA. Until the next time!

Consistent is an understatement considering the product created by Jamila and Moncef has been amazing for decades. Their commitment to your dining experience is obvious. You will leave with a heart as full as your stomach and happiness only rivaled by that of your taste buds. Do yourself a favor and escape to the inviting ”home” that is Jamila’s Restaurant.
Kid-friendliness: Moncef is an Uncle to kids and adults. Friendliness people

We found this cafe by accident - a truly wonderful experience. The food and service was so good, and the owners were very sweet and took such good care of us. We would highly recommend and will visit again the next time we are in New Orleans!

Easiest 5-star rating I’ve given. What a hidden gem. Intimate for sure. Great date spot. Make a reservation with a large party. All of the above was going on when I stopped by. The owner, Moncef, knows several different languages, wonderful charm to the guy!
And now the food…
Chicken was organic and tasted fantastic. The dish I got was supposed to come with couscous but I told him I was gluten free and he replaced it with a great-tasting yellow basmati rice.
Ate till my stomach hurt. The meal actually “felt” homecooked. The atmosphere is also really great. Never once felt rushed and the waitress is super-polite. It exhumes a feeling of luxury service, home love, and culture yet it comes in this small restaurant room. Gold!!
(The *only* thing I’d improve on is adding a sign on the interior door that says “entrance to Jamila’s Cafe” and a “please wait to be seated sign”. Everyone I’ve seen enter, including me, gets confused by where to enter. Also, adding a “restrooms down the hall second door to the right” sign would be helpful on the other side above the door so people eating know where to go.)

Do you miss your favorite aunt and uncle? The ones who always have delicious food on the stove, time to listen to your celebrations and sorrows, and offer uplifting advice and encouragement over a cup of tea? From the moment I made reservations, I felt like a family member.Jamila's food was homey and comforting. The service was something I will remember for years to come. Everything at Jamila's is done with love. I can not recommend highly enough!
