This location has become the Denny's of a French bistro experience. Cold potato soup? Cold French onion soup with unmelted shreds of cheese? Floor staff who treat customers like they're in a prison? One doesn't get a sense that the staff really even understand the food. This place screams poor management.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but dang that guy was rude. I was there yesterday (Monday, Nov 25) around 3:30pm. All of the staff were just sitting at a table in the middle of the restaurant. The women were polite but didn’t get up. The guy who did get up acted like I was his dad forcing him to clean his room. Did not make any eye contact, had a surly expression on his face the whole time, and barely spoke. When he did speak, it wasn’t complete sentences and felt aggressive and rude. I worked at that location30 years ago and was just in town for a couple of days. I had really been looking forward to dining there and enjoying my old favorites (Caesar salad and tomato basil soup). The food was good, but honestly, that guy ruined the whole experience. What a jerk. The place has sure gone downhill.
Edit: la Madeleine asked me to submit this same review to their website, supposedly so that action could be taken on it. I never received any kind of response, and it has now been months.

the food is good but they don't pay enough attention to online ordering. we didn't receive the chicken we added to our salad, they left out an entire cup of soup. I ordered a vanilla bean creme brulee in person and they sold me a coffee one. the guy at the counter didn't seem like he cared much since he was trying to multi task and Instead of handing me my order I had to ask if it was OK for me to just grab it off the counter. my croque monsieur was absolutely slathered in this garlic sauce leaking out the side. but i never really have a problem with this location. chalking it up to one bad experience and realistically I'm probably still going to order here.

Had a classic la madeleines experience. No complaints! Clean establishment, friendly service, good food. Very convenient to the streetcar stop.

Do not waste your time at this location. The manager is nasty - they carried on a conversation for 10 minutes while I waited. He is racist. He told me my coupon see picture was for a pastry. It reads soup or salad. I spend hundreds at the franchise but I’m black so I get treated like a recently freed slave.
I went to place a to go order for me and my two small children. I was in the middle of ordering and the counter person switched to another person and took their order and made their order.?! Then I said I was in the middle of ordering and she said he was there first. He wasn’t there first he walked in from outside the store while I was at the counter. I get home and find out one sandwich I asked to be warm wasn’t and both the kids meals were missing their side items. The general mood of the staff was just lazy. There was one kitchen guy sitting at a table, talking to himself. there were plenty of other people there that could’ve helped me too, but it was like only one person was dealing with the customers. I’ve been going to this place since it opened. The food is good. The service and the atmosphere are considerably worse. It’s sad too because the food can actually be good. They just don’t have the service to match. They do as little as possible and no one apologized when I called to tell him I didn’t get my sides. They just said well you can come back and get them. Great. I already knew that. I also had to call five times because no one was answering. And it’s not cause they were busy there were two people eating in there when I was there. this place that needs to be amped up and made great or closed. Mediocrity is not an option. Paying customers deserve better, so does the Madeline brand.

The pastries looked really good in the case so I bought 6 pastries to go, 2 chocolate almond croissants, one strawberry Napolean, two praline cheesecakes, (one had a brown paper under it and the other had a white paper, and a crème brûlée. They put everything on the box behind the counter and took it from a different counter/fridge than what was showcased. Didn’t think anything of it. However, when I got home later and went to eat it, the chocolate almond croissants were super hard but the filling looked ok. I took a bite of it despite being hard. I spit it out immediately. That pastry was bad but nothing compared to the soggy AF strawberry Napolean. It looked off as if the sugar has started liquidating on the top. I took a bite and all I tasted was a sweet desert with a hint of dirt. It wasn’t dirt. When I opened it up, there was mold growing on the strawberries. Tried the praline cheesecake with the white paper. It was old. Nasty. Spit it out like I did the others. Tried the one with the brown paper and it was fresh. The cream brûlée was tasty and we had no issues with that one. I spent $35 on trash. I’m upset about it and I think they tossed whatever was to be thrown away on my box. I am upset about it. Not going there again. 4 out of 6 pastries were old and rotten. Absolutely horrible. I’ve had them in the past and they were fine. The last two times I’ve been, it’s like things have changed. They seem to no longer care about quality. Very disappointing.

Nasty, cold, and also burnt food. Literal powdered eggs. Latte was straight milk and didn’t warm up pasties. Expensive for what?
I went early in the morning when things should have been fresh and paid $6.50 for 2 small croissants. They were stale. Also I was asked twice to add a tip for the 10 seconds it took for the server to pull them off the shelf and put them in a bag. I'm really over having everyone asking for a tip when no service has been given. I will never go to any overpriced LA Madeleine again as this was my second bad experience.

The croque monsieur was completely cold and uncooked. Inedible and disgusting. The bread wasn’t toasted, the cheese was barely melted and the ham was cold and obviously from a cheap supermarket package. The potato soap was clearly being stretched with water; very thin and watery. Super disappointing. I used to like this place but I won’t be paying them for garbage again after this.

Everything is soo good, ordered delivery at work and it was so good. the food was hot and the potato soup was so good and tasty and they put the toppings on the side so that they do not get soggy.

We live out of town but when we’re in New Orleans, we love to stop at La Madeleine’s. I see what some people are saying about this location but it’s always been so convenient for us, so we kept going anyway. Unfortunately after last night, I don’t think we’ll back. We just stopped in on our way home for some a croissant, soup and tarts. The croissant and soup was fine but the tarts absolutely were not. Mine tasted rancid and I noticed after taking a bite of it, it was also warm! I quickly asked my kid’s if theirs was cold they said it was but when they took a bite they said theirs was disgusting as well. Unfortunately by this time, we were already about 15 minutes towards home and there wasn’t much we could do about it. I could only imagine how many other people had gotten the same bad tarts. Thank goodness we only took one bite and none of us got sick.
Lovely place
