The best items on the menu were the trout, mac and cheese and collard greens. The yams weren't yamming. The bread pudding wasn't that sweet. The bell pepper could have been two instead of one color red bell pepper. We're used to green in the city. The dirty rice was okay. The gumbo was not the best. Don't get it. Service was probably the best there. Wait time was a reasonable amount of time to get a table and be served.

A soulful serenade of flavor, discovered on an early morning work trip, detours

Visiting from out of town for work, my colleagues and I made a spontaneous stop at Li'l Dizzy's Cafe before heading south from the city for the day—and what a detour it turned out to be. Nestled in the heart of New Orleans’ Treme neighborhood, this Creole soul-food gem transformed a quick lunch into a culinary memory.

The two-piece dark fried chicken arrived cloaked in a golden, blistered crust that whispered promises of crunch before yielding to impossibly juicy meat beneath. The seasoning—a graceful dance of cayenne, garlic, and nostalgia—evoked front porch evenings and the laughter of generations past. It’s not just fried chicken; it’s a cultural heirloom made tangible.

The Jambalaya, a spoonful of their jambalaya, was a jazz riff in edible form. Long-grain rice kissed by the holy trinity of Creole cuisine—onion, celery, and bell pepper—carried notes of smoked sausage, tender chicken, and shrimp that tasted as if they were just coaxed from the Gulf. Harmonized by a tomato base that hummed with deep, smoky undertones and a sly, peppery crescendo, it was comfort food dressed in elegance and steeped in storytelling

The staff enveloped us in warmth like old friends catching up, and the space hummed with local charm. You don’t just eat at Li'l Dizzy's—you’re welcomed, indulged, remembered.

In a city where flavor is legacy, Li'l Dizzy's Cafe adds a bold and beautiful verse to New Orleans’ culinary hymn. For anyone seeking not just a meal but a moment, this fried chicken and jambalaya combo isn’t just delightful—it’s spiritually restorative.

Wow. I ordered the strawberry lemonade vodka drink and it was very delightful and refreshing. For my meal, I ordered the Friday special, the catfish Jordan (?) fried catfish with a crab & shrimp better sauce. The fish was moist and delicate. The sauce was light and a fantastic complement to the fish. The greens and the Mac & cheese were exceptional. I can't wait to come back try something new! Everything is served in take out containers but I took mine all the way to the face! Incredible.

Get the fried chicken and mac & cheese they are definitely highpoints. The crab cakes were salty and gave salmon croquet vibes. Pass on the bread pudding as well.
The staff was amazing and efficient. Be patient, It's very crowded on the weekends.
The place is tiny but has lots of charm.

Story of my life, we planned to eat at this place and be there as the earliest bird! But traffic got in the way and we ended up falling in-line for about 15 minutes! And long lines means something good in there that people are willing to stand outside! The pork chops were sold out but I opted to eat their amazing fried chicken and delicious dirty rice! Tried the Gumbo, crab cakes, mac&cheese and the greens as well! Freaking delicious 😋! I lost count how many “oh God” and “wow” came out that lunch with my family! Freaking delicious dirty rice! I’m definitely coming back for the pork chops! And that Southern hospitality paired with amazing food? 5 stars all the way. Thank god for this experience, we live to eat and our cravings are satisfied!
