This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is really good. I had plain rain basket stuffed with cilantro and avocado salad. Arepa stuffed with chorizo.

I’d seen this place come up while researching restaurants, and as it was only a 20 minute walk from the Smoothie King Arena it was an easy dinner spot before going to a Pelicans game. They normally only take reservations by phone, but since we were coming from the UK they let me book through Instagram message (though they would really benefit from a proper website and booking platform). As it turned out, we needn’t have booked for when they opened at 5.30 as the space was quite big and there weren’t many others in. All of the servers were lovely, and it was baby friendly. We ordered the choriarepa (chorizo, avocado salsa, and mozzarella) and the pabellon (skirt steak, black beans, plantains and cojita cheese) which were both delicious, though the chorizo was a little spicy for my wife.

Wonderfully authentic Columbia food and great service. Everything we ate was wonderful, especially the skirt steak and arepas! The BANDEJA PAISA is a must try. My 6 year old son, whose willing to try new foods, said it was the best meal of his life. The streets getting there are a little rough with construction, but certainly well worth the effort!

We dropped in with no reservation the Friday after Mardi Gras had ended, 6ish. We were immediately seated. Service was great, as was the food. We had the Maiz de le Ruedo (think Mexican street corn) and house salad to share. We each had an arapas. Mine was Columbian style pulled pork with pickled red onions and cojita cheese. My Margarita was tasty! Will we go back? Most certainly.

I recommend arriving right at opening to avoid having to wait. Server was very attentive and helpful with the menu. I enjoyed my meal and I enjoyed the space and overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Wonderful food and ambiance for our first dinner in New Orleans. Complex flavors, friendly knowledgeable staff for a cultural dining experience! The prawn ceviche is heavenly.

We come to New Orleans at least once per year. We’ve eaten at Maïs Arepas several times, and it never disappoints. This last time was really over the top. Our server was named Sebastian, a native of Columbia, and I wish I had taken a photo, because it’s hard to believe he existed! Not only was he so suave and beautiful (the whole table, including the men, had a crush on him), but he made wonderful food and drink selections that really made our meal a standout experience. My friend had the vegetarian arepa, which had gorgeous, well seasoned grilled vegetables. We’ve all had it before, and it is so tasty and light! For me, Sebastian recommended Bandeja Paisa, which is a mixed smorgasbord of plantains, skirt steak, chorizo, cranberry beans, chicharron, fried egg, and more. For my husband, Sebastian recommended costillas de cerdo, which is slow cooked pork ribs, slaw, guava bbq, and out of this world yucca fries! Both dishes were cooked just right and bursting with flavor. Sebastian also made wonderful drink recommendations and we really loved the lulada he recommended. Sebastian really acted as an ambassador for Columbia! We love this place and will come back again and again. Still wish I had gotten a photo of us with Sebastian!

The food here is fantastic and the service is great. The atmosphere is nice too. I had never had arepas before. They are a delicious type of bread stuffed with all kinds things--shrimp, or sausage, veggies, etc.

Out of this world! Everything we had was delicious and fresh. The flavors and textures paired perfectly together. We got the empanada, shrimp arepas and chorizo arepas. Each one was outstanding. I have celiac and I have never had food like this before. I can not say enough good things about Mais Arepas!

Really good food! All gluten free which is great for a Celiac family. The arepas were out of this world. They were huge - we shared a skirt steak, chicken and pulled pork. Topped with a delicious red wine San gria.

Deserves more than five stars. This was hands down our best dining experience in NOLA over a 5 night stay. Atmosphere, service, sangria, food (incredible), prices. This is the whole package folks. Was quite a walk from French Quarter through several construction zones; we decided to Uber back & had to walk away from the restaurant a bit to get to a place suitable for pick up. My only recommendation, consider online reservation platform; this lovely location is still taking reservations only by phone. But I’d do it again a hundred times!!! Eat here, you will not be disappointed!

Great authentic Colombian food in a quaint location anchoring the corner block. Street parking available. Reservations recommended. Ceviche was may fav. Cocktails made with fresh juice, enjoyed a passion fruit margarita. Have to say- the sangria looked amazing too. Reasonably priced. Will absolutely return!
