This place seems to exist to lure people in off the street. Food was not very good especially for the price. If you look up the definition of Tourist Trap I believe there might be a picture of this place.

Great food and good environment too
Not a bad spot, just not a good spot. If you’re looking to hang out in the area and have some music and a beer, this is for you. The food is fine at best. I had the Taste of New Orleans which is the sampler dish they offer with gumbo, étouffée, rice and beans, and jambalaya. The étouffée and rice and beans were particularly bland and under spiced and had a runny consistency. The gumbo was also thin and the only flavor came from the onion and seafood. The jambalaya was the best of the bunch but was mushy in texture with the star being the sausage. In general this does place does not do justice to these dishes. The only issue with service is they only have a handful of wait staff taking care of so many people you really don’t get enough attention and wait times for things are long. Good staff otherwise!

My husband and I ate at the Market Cafe 2 times during our week stay in New Orleans! My (meat & potatoes ) husband had the all you can eat buffet (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, fruit...) twice, and I (seafood lover) had shrimp & grits the first visit and red fish with shrimp our second visit. BOTH times were fabulous! Our server, DAVID, was delightful! When you go, ask to sit in his section, you won't regret it. We also enjoyed the live music, openness & cleanliness of the Market Cafe.

Paige was absolutely amazing and coming here to have a couple drinks was the best idea because she really helped end our trip here in NOLA on the best note. She deserves a raise! Thank you Paige for the laughs and friendly conversation, we appreciate the heck outta you. - Dani & Andrew from Denver

This is one of my go to spots whenever I visit Nola, but I always only come for the drinks and music! Paige at the bar today convinced me to try out the gumbo, and it’s indeed another go to for me whenever I visit again. Great service, drinks & food, and whoever’s playing always enhances the vibe. A must stop here right in the French market area!
