I would have gave them all five stars but when I came out of the restroom to get my food the cook was chewing a mouthful of food while he was fixing my sandwich and I only had a few shrimps on my sandwich look like he was eating the shrimps that he was frying for my food ?

A local business that really touches the heart with its familiar blue hue aesthetic and simple, yet unique labeling. Entering Melba's is quite like home.

Take out via Uber eats. Everything was great (Mac cheese side and jambalaya delish). But had to downgrade because grilled shrimp and fried shrimp Po’ Boy was over salted. Shame.

Ok 24hr food joint. You used to be able to find 24hrs cafes/bars/restaurants everywhere before COVID. There's plenty of seating, but I'm guessing this is mainly takeout, especially after 2am. Standard New Orleans fair, poboy, burgers, fried seafood, random Chinese/Asian. I had a fish poboy and fries. The fish was not as crispy as I like but still good. The fries were fresh but in need of salt. You can order online, by phone or QR code and they have kiosks. There's a hookah club upstairs plus several video poker machines. They're a decent option in mid city for late night grub.

I ordered shrimp and grits with mac and cheese as a side. The grits were unsalted, unbuttered instant grits. The shrimp, which I ordered as "grilled" shrimp, were boiled and lightly seasoned, not grilled at all. Worst shrimp and grits I've ever had. The mac was hard and unchewable plain penne noodles, like they'd been sitting out since the previous night, with some shredded cheese thrown in it. Inedible. It cost me $20. Never going there again.

So, UberEats decided to throw a buy-one-get-one-free promotion at me, and you know I couldn't resist! They delivered eight drumsticks and two flats, which landed me with a whopping 16 pieces of white meat and 4 of dark meat. Talk about a poultry imbalance!
Melba’s must’ve recruited their chickens from a marathon or track team because these birds looked like they were prepping for the Paralympics! Some legs were so swollen they should’ve been wearing special support stockings. Others qualified for crutches and a Medicare plan while the others wait in ICU. I half expected to see a little chicken on an electric scooter zooming by! You can tell they're not in the habit of changing the oil.
Don’t get me started on the texture of the “meat”! I took one bite for taste and two more for science. Not chewable. Pretty much like chewing gum, non stop. There were so many strings stuck between my teeth I thought I was auditioning for a horror movie. I even considered investing in barbed wire instead of dental floss. Seriously, the chicken was so greasy it dripped more oil than a mechanic's garage. I've seen less oil at a P-Diddy late-night party.
After taking some “artistic” photos of the monstrosity, I sent them to Uber Eats for a refund. With just one look from them, they processed the refund quicker than fast. So here I am, officially breaking up with Melba's Poboys. It's like the owners and cooks have teamed up for a top-secret chicken conspiracy got new cooks or new owner or something.
Lesson learned: I definitely won't eat chicken from fast foods anymore, anywhere.. They won't tell you if its Lab-Grown Meat..I can fry chicken myself! From now on, when I buy chicken, I'm checking for the word “HATCHED” on the package. If it’s not there, I’ll know I’m dealing with Lab-Grown Meat!

Only spot because it was the only thing open at 4am. The food looked like it had been sitting on the warmer for over 10hours. After standing there for a while the smell of the place caught up to me it smelt like really old mop water. But I’ve been drinking and needed to put something on my stomach. I ordered chicken and fries even though the guy behind the counter was talking about how deformed the chicken is now ?. Food had NOOO flavor on anything had to add my own seasoning when I got to my bnb. I should’ve known better because they said we had to drop the chicken and I smelt nothing. Would not recommend at all. Couldn’t even eat the chicken it had so much hair on them and taste weird I ate the fries after adding seasoning and picked at the chicken

Kid-friendliness: I love the concept of promoting books on to kids. Tryna to get them to read then rewarding them for their achievements
