I had the crab cakes and they were good, though if you are an Easter like me I was left hungry. I should have got the Blue Plate Special... for next time.

On Thursday November 28th, I had the most incredible Thanksgiving experience ever! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff members and was in awe at every little detail. I tried almost everything (until I was too stuffed to eat anything else), and nothing disappointed me. The ham, lamb, and turkey were all cooked to perfection; every side dish was delicious. The part that really sent me over the edge was the fresh homemade cranberry sauce. It truly sent the meal over the edge. My server Markea was amazing as well. I never had an empty water or tea glass, and the table was always cleaned of any dirty dishes. I was also visited by the manager Samantha who was extremely kind and caring. I could tell from speaking with her momentarily that she had put every ounce of effort she had into making this a memorable occasion for myself and all other guests. This was the first time I have ever gone to a restaurant for a Thanksgiving meal, and because of this experience, it definitely won't be the last. I am ready to make a reservation for the Thanksgiving 2025 event!!

It's a beautiful day, and my family and I decided to do brunch. Well, our waitress left the table high and dry. We set there patiently waiting for our beverages and appetizers, and nothing came. We set from 12:25 til 2:45.

Through hearing the other Waitress conversation, we heard that our Waitress was fired. No way should that have been brought to our attention as this is considered unprofessional and not having bedside manners. We did not expect the type of experience at this particular establishment.
Anyhow, We were offered complimentary gumbo as a pat on the shoulder.
However, I'm assuming this was a nice gesture, but it was luke warm.
I'm not discounting the cafe. But I will discredit the unprofessionalism.
We had prior engagements and obligations, and one of them was not to sit here for 3 hours, being the only family inside the establishment at closing. My daughter was supposed to be at work since 2:20. My husband is diabetic and not expecting food or beverages to be delayed.
Completely dissatisfied. It's distasteful.
I would like to extend a thank you to Samantha, the manager, for trying to make our experience a little better and graciously appreciate the accommodation. As for Jordanne the Waitress, I hope that you can learn how to be a little bit more discreet and less boorish.

Respectfully:)

Do not sleep on Messina’a Runway Cafe! If you love aviation (and breakfast) this is a must stop for all visitors or locals alike. The historic site houses a beautiful space lined with floor to ceiling windows that overlook an active runway of private aircraft. The food is phenomenal. Phenomenal! We were told Chef Leon has sadly passed, but his protégé has continued his quality and masterful craft. Especially enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and pudding.
Side note: My husband and I got married at the Messina in 2019 and came to the cafe for anniversary brunch. The staff were so kind as they treated us to a dessert and champagne. Thank you Messina Family!

Friendly, nice atmosphere. We had a window table so we were able to see the helicopters land and take off. Our waiter was so attentive and nice as well

Fly in! Dine in! Fly out! A taste of New Orleans and doing it in style. Great crab cakes Benedict and burgers. Great service. Really neat atmosphere in a redone art deco building.

My new favorite weekend brunch place. Sitting by the window, we had spectacular views of so many types of aircraft. Our server was delightful and attentive, even when she was so very busy. The gumbo was delicious and filled with crabmeat. The omelettes were light and fluffy and those potatoes are worth a second visit. Thanks for everything.
