Mr. John's Steakhouse

The steak was out of this world as surprisingly was the amuse' bouce. They elevated a simple meatball to classic NOLA style. As my husband said, “We like everything about it!”

A person in our group had half eaten steak and asked for it to be boxed up. The waiter pile dishes from our table onto his steak plate and stated he would box it up as he attempted to point out the issues. We all looked mortified that this occurred. When we received our bill, the waiter handed my husband passes to local strip club. At this point we were confused as to why the waiter would think this was acceptable behavior. Never been more disappointed in a Steakhouse that claims to be elegant. Thank you Mr. John's for ruining our evening & dinner.

Excellent service and our filet mignon entrees were cooked perfectly. The onions rings were a great way to start.

On October 25th, 2025, I made the mistake of choosing this steakhouse to celebrate my bachelor party while I was in New Orleans for the weekend. They started off our dinner with an in-house, complimentary meatball. Everything was fine until someone from our party almost choked on a piece of plastic in his meatball. We immediately notified our waiter who then said, “I’m sorry about that, I will speak to the kitchen for you.” After about 10 minutes, we heard nothing back from our server as we watched them go to every table near us and continue service. I had to flag them down to find out what the kitchen said. Which they then replied, “Well the kitchen doesn’t know what happened and I already said sorry.” Then the waiter started to say the plastic could’ve came off the bread basket and there’s no way to verify it came from the meatball because they didn’t see it. Basically, insinuating we were lying. After, this horrible response from the waiter, I asked for the manager. The manager came over to us and expressed that he was sorry. This is when I explained to the manager that we were celebrating my future marriage and I chose this specific restaurant because it was recommended to me by a family member. The manager responded by saying that he appreciated us for celebrating here and he was going to talk to the kitchen. That was the last time we heard from or even saw the manager. I trusted the manager would come back eventually or maybe we would have some sort of accommodation but that was it. The check came with nothing taken off which I wasn’t expecting until I realized we never heard from manager again. I didn’t need them to make our meal free or anything like that but I was optimistic that they would do something nice for our troubles instead of acting concerned in our face then never checking back with us. I mean, literal plastic was in someone’s food and nothing was done about. This place with never get my business again and I would recommend this to anyone I know or care about in the slightest. Also, the food wasn’t that good, I’ve had much better steak from many other places for the same price. All in all, the service was absolutely horrible and the manager should probably go through more hospitality training or consider a new career that doesn’t involve interacting with people consistently.

We had a group of 10 and they had us order from a limited menu. Overall the service and atmosphere was great, our team had an awesome time. The food was solid, wish we could have ordered off the full menu but other than that is was really good.

The overall experience was horrible I celebrated my 26th birthday here & it did not feel like a birthday celebration My reservation was for 9 PM & I understand that's very close to closing time but if it was a problem YALL should have never let me book. The server basically gave a speech in the beginning that made us feel so rushed & the overall vibe from there went down. Food TOOOK forever to come out and when it did come it was not cooked correctly. everybody hated their food, the only thing we liked was drinks. The bill was almost $900 and we did not think it was worth it, my family & I dine at so many steakhouse throughout the year, we could have seriously went else where. Horrible experience & will not recommend this restaurant at all. DO BETTER.

Celebrated a birthday lunch. The Gulf Fish dish was delish. I will book again perhaps for dinner. Katherine

we had terrible service. Our waiter was inattentive and didn't even apologize for getting our order incorrect. he forgot one of our items and doubled our salad order. I don't think he was even listening.

My wife ordered the surf and turf. The lobster tail they served was rancid, you could literally smell it from across the table. I cannot believe they would let something like that leave the kitchen. We were looking forward to a nice night and a good meal but was very disappointed.

I've never been to this steakhouse and this place didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was very classy, and the music that they played was amazing. Our servers were and great, and the food was excellent. We will be back!!!

Took my wife here on September 25, 2025. She heard great things about this place. The waiter was amazing but the food was terrible. The creamed spinach was so lemony it was like someone spilled a bottle of concentrated lemon juice in it. My 4oz lobster tail at market price ($40) looked like big crawfish. I ordered two old fashioned and they were not old fashioned. My wife’s steak wasn’t cooked property she had to send it back. My wife said it best that the best things we had were the Crèmebrule and the water.

The food was excellent, my wife and I enjoyed the filet mignon, prepared as requested, and delicious. The sides of asparagus and Freddie's Mac & cheese were exceptionally prepared.

It was marvelous, service was on point and the food was delicious. It was a great birthday experience.
