This is a must for traveling to NOLA. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect. In addition to dining, please check out their upstairs and inquire about the history.
The food was just average for me. The service was great and the restaurant's decor was great.
We both did the three course meal. The carbonara and shrimp crepes were OUTSTANDING. The pork chop was delicious...the chicken not so much. I should know better. The chocolate pecan tart was in my top three best desserts I've ever had.
It was good overall until we got to finishing our meal and waited about 20 minutes for desert to come out. Meanwhile the Birthday girl was fading (she was celebrating a grand 80+ birthday) and had pain from the chairs. Things were going well until they just sort of forgot about us. It did not make a good impression and spoiled what could have been a lovely time. Our server was more interested in being defensive rather than being attentive and definitely no apologies offered. For the price and level of professionalism you expect from an old New Orleans institution it was pretty unacceptable, sorry to say. We may not be back any time soon, sigh...
Food was amazing, but we were not impressed with our servers. It took forever to get a drink order and there was much confusion at the table.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Prb the best gourmet gumbo i've ever had. Would definitely come back.
Muriel's was outstanding! Everything we had was delicious! Ordered the prefix menu with shrimp and goat cheese crepes, pecan and panko crusted drum and dark chocolate pecan tart. Every bite was perfection!
Service was not good you and there was also bones in my redfish filet they just shrugged it off
We celebrated a friend's birthday with Sunday brunch at Muriel's Jackson Square, and overall it was a wonderful experience. Reservations were easy through OpenTable, with helpful confirmation calls and flexibility to move our time earlier so we could enjoy the live jazz. Brunch was very busy, so seating took a bit longer than expected, but that's understandable for such a popular spot. The upstairs is beautiful and worth exploring while you wait—definitely take photos. Coming with a little patience makes all the difference. Once seated, our beverage server was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Service overall was a bit uneven due to how busy things were, but nothing that detracted from the experience. The food was outstanding. Everything was beautifully plated and delicious. Highlights included the turtle soup, blackened red snapper, mimosas, spicy Bloody Marys, and wonderful desserts. The live jazz trio was a lovely touch and made the birthday celebration extra special. Muriel's is absolutely worth a visit for the food, music, and atmosphere. I'd happily return.
My son and I made advanced online reservations for a weekday dinner at 5:30 pm. We picked Muriel’s because they offered the 4-course Reveillon 2025 exclusive menu, only available for 23 days in December. We were seated immediately at a low-top table in one of the lower dining rooms. I noticed they did not have table linens, and the silverware was rolled rather than set. We had alternating servers who were professional but not personable. All four courses were exquisite, from the turtle soup to the lamb. Unfortunately, the enjoyment was spoiled by a large party near us celebrating a birthday. They were loud and obnoxious, acting like they were at a sports bar on bourbon, not at an upscale restaurant that required collared shirts and cost $100+ a person. My son mentioned it to one of the managers, and he just apologized and nothing else. I would have appreciated it if he had spoken with the table or moved us to a quieter part of the restaurant. They did not miss on the food. It was excellent. They missed the experience, which would cause me not to return. Please do not portray yourself as refined and upscale, and then back it up.

I've been here a few times now. Every time I get to go to New Orleans, the first thing I do is make time to come here for dinner. This trip was no difference. Upon arrival, I immediately made plans to come for dinner. I arrived a bit early, so I went to the bar and met some very interesting folks. Great drinks and great atmosphere while waiting for the restaurant to open for seating. I got a wonderful window seat again. I had two waitresses. Both were wonderful. I, again, ordered the 3 course meal. I got the salad, shrimp and grits, and the amazing bread pudding. The shrimp and grits is/are the best I've ever had. I've had this meal at many restaurants that claim they have the best. Let me tell you, this place is the absolute best. Their sauce is amazing. The flavor is delish. The grits are creamy. Not the gritty grits. I cannot brag about this place enough. The service is excellent. Total professionals. The food is fantastic. The location is perfect for an after dinner walk. This is a great place to walk around the restaurant and take in the sights. You must walk around and go upstairs. You'll be amazed. I will be coming here again and again. So should you.
We had visited Muriel's 10 years ago or so and had great memories of our dinner there. This time was a major let down... The place is nice and perfectly located, the menu looks appetizing and the staff is OK although running around based on the size of the place... But the food was extremely disappointing... It tasted more like what you would get in a large hotel buffet: the fish was dry, the veggies were boring and boiled, the sauces tasted industrial,,, even the poor gumbo didn't deliver... We skipped dessert... and left
Muriel's used to be a must go dining spot. I've been eating here for 25 yrs. However in the past few years the food quality and value has deminished greatly. Stayed away for two years and I was hoping for a turn around. But that didn't happen. I ordered their duck and it was overdone and the sauce was lukewarm warm at best. This is third dining experience in a row of poor food. I ate at the bar, the bartender was nice and attentive, but I noted she gives diners their check before they even get their food. Sort of off putting.
We ate Sunday brunch and it was outstanding. I had the Eggs, Venny and my wife had the bananas foster French toast. Could not recommend either more. The service was maybe the best we experienced in the French quarter this week. Highly recommend Muriel's.
Sooooo good!!!!! Turtle soup was excellent. Cocktails were delicious and creative. Breakfast/Brunch entrees were all so amazing. The mushroom omelette was decadent. The croque monsieur was fantastic and the benedict w/ boudin was good and creative!!!! Unfortunately, there was no room for dessert!!
