I really liked this bar. The bartender both times was fun. Atmosphere befitting an old dive in the quarter. Not too touristy. It's a small bar though, thankfully we were able to squeeze in for a rest and a beer.

Went in late on Saturday, lot of people, but we found a spot at the bar. Service was pretty quick. I got some absinthe drink and wife got a sazerac.
Fair warning to you: we had no idea it was basically just rye whisky to sip on. Our own fault. We didn't drink it though as we didn't need any help getting buzzed. We were hoping it was something a bit bigger to sip on, woops!

Drinks were good, bartenders were informative and friendly. It's a very cool place. Bathrooms were disgusting / absolutely vile and disgusting but it's bourbon street area so 🤷. Get a drink and move on. Street gravy is everywhere. The ventilation system above people also looked disgusting possible black mold/debris falling down on ppl's drinks but could just be how it looked lol. Idk. Again. Bourbon street.

This is a real piece of history, and a very welcoming environment. Our bartender Carina was the absolute best. Very attentive and gave a fun and concise history lesson about the history of not only The Old Absinthe House, but the spirit itself. Made great recommendations on not only a brand of absinthe, but the best ways to have it served for your palate. 10/10.

Whenever I travel to the French Quater this place is always my first stop. Okay I lied, my first stop is Drago's but but this watering hole is definitely my 2nd. IYKYK.
Erin is a phenomenal lady of elixir's. Her recommendations are on point.

The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre discovered this hidden little gem tucked away in NOLA…
This is an awesome spot and Corina who was one of our servers is a true rockstar as she hooked us up with the VIP absent delivery system.
NOTE: This place has it all, including a unique clientele from Californians to Frenchman to lawyers, and of course jokers and tokers!!!
VERDICT: Guilty as sin for doing everything right with a smile!!!

Great bar! Really cool historic building with a wide selection of drinks, especially absinthe, as the name suggests. It's fun to watch the preparation with a slotted spoon and sugar cube. The absinthe frappe is definitely refreshing on a hot New Orleans day. Check it out!
Old Absinthe House is such a cool historic bar with a great atmosphere. I was honestly a little intimidated to try the absinthe since it seemed too strong for me, but I ended up ordering a cocktail instead and really enjoyed it. The drink was well-balanced and definitely more my style. The vibe of the place makes it worth a visit, even if you don’t go all in with the absinthe.
