Wonderful atmosphere and service
Lady working at the front door was rude to everyone that walked in. Kept her earbuds in and when you asked for help she seemed annoyed
Very cool place to stay. Bar is open 24hrs. The beds were comfortable. If your looking for an inexpensive place to lay down for the night give it a shot. The elevator is very shaky but the kids thought it was a ride. Local beers in the fridge. Bagels and cereal for breakfast.
Best energy ever .

The bartender sat and was talking to her boyfriend the whole time we were there waiting for our drinks and ended up leaving after one drink because of this.
Good service
One of the best hostels in America, hands down! nicely renovated, clean, great bathrooms and all the little touches like a plug at every bed.
Such an amazing chill spot.
They have been absolutely wonderful to deal with during the Covid-19 crisis, from rescheduling to cancelling/delaying reservations. Can't wait to stay here when life resumes!

First thing to impress me was the cleanliness of the rooms. The bed linen is spotless white! I had chosen the place due to proximity to Old quarters. Tram line nearby is convenient. However, the staff warn you to walk outside alone in the night. You need to walk under the freeway to reach the old quarters and the night there are lot of homeless people over there. So, please be cautious. The usage of attached bath in the room can be a bit challenging if you need to avoid disturbing other room mates. I couldn't sleep till mid-night due to other room mates coming in and using the toilet and then i had to wake up at 5am to use the bath to catch an early morning flight. Beds are very convenient. Bar is lively. However, do not expect a huge spread for the free breakfast. Its just a simple spread of baked items. Difficult to find cheap vegan restaurants nearby. Elevator definitely requires an overhaul. Overall - i would recommend this convenient place. Enjoy the free Sangria.
A big shout out to Dionne who was the friendliest staff member I've eve come across. She offered suggestions, hung out, chatted with everyone and was warm and friendly. This is not a regular hostel. There's a bar which they call a common room, no kitchen where you can cook nor dining space where you eat. Also, there's just one dryer washer for all 30 rooms and you pay 5 dollars per load. Bathrooms are ensuite with a sink in the room. Rooms are kindnof small so it's gross to see /hear roomies brushing teeth, gargling etc. Two peeves were the paper thin walls. You could hear every single word said in the corridor and rooms. And the lift is noisy as hell and seems haunted to me. Felt v creepy everytime I used it. . Secondly was cleanliness. Our room wasn't cleaned for 3 days even though we left a complaint at reception and hung a sticker on the door. We finally tracked down a cleaner and had a come to clean. Her immediate response was that she'd thought the room had been cleaned. Even after cleaning it they forgot towels and emptying the dustbin near the sink and we had to run after them for those. There was one roll of Tp only so it was embarrassing as hell to go down in the middle of the night in Pj's to ask reception for it while there was a DJ playing and guests hanging around Btw, don't ever use the toilet in the lobby because Dionne says she allows the homeless to come and use it. I appreciate her compassion but one has to be careful of diseases and hygiene. The breakfast is good - there's biscuits(seemed stale) , yummy croissants, OK doughnuts, salami, cheese, bread, cereal and toast. There are apples and bananas but if you want an orange you have to ask for it. Refilling of breakfast stuff isn't that great and the first night they had honey as well as sugar but I never saw it after that. The location is pretty good. Can't walk to the FQ or back at night because of the homeless at Lee Circle... feels unsafe. The tolley car has begun to work and is right outside the hostel. There's a Wendy and Popeye's right next to the hostel but no Grocery or deli nor store close by. A walgreens is a couple of blocks away and some eateries further up.
Everything was great. Usually at hostels, there is something unsatisfactory. It's too noisy, the lights are too bright, the beds are uncomfortable, it's not clean, etc. The Quisby had none of this problem. My stay went incredibly smoothly. It was basically the same quality as staying in a hotel, at a much, MUCH lower price. It's a 20-minute walk to the french quarter. You can take the trolley, but it's really slow, and adding in the time you spend waiting and walking from the final stop to the french quarter, it's really just quicker to walk the whole way.
This was my 2nd time staying at a hostel, it was better than the 1st time. I shared the room with two other ladies, that were friendly. The room was maintained, bed is comfortable, and the room was maintained. I didn't like the male housekeeper coming in the room while we were there, he stated he didn't know anyone was in the room. The Quisby is conveniently located across from the streetcar stop (St Charles/Erato) and 20-30 minutes walk to the French Quarter/Canal Street. I walked from Jax Brewery after attending the Dick Clark NYE event, and to and from the Sugar Bowl game at Superdome without any issues. Although there are homeless people living under the bridge, they didn't bother anyone. There are restaurants next door and within reasonable distance and Amtrak station is also within walking distance (not if you have a lot of luggage and not at night for solo females).
Great place to meet friends.
