When I asked a local friend (who happens to be an accomplished chef) what vegan food I should try while in town, the Doubles at Queen Trini were the first thing she recommended. And boy was she right - we’ve missed Doubles since leaving Brooklyn, and Queen Trinis did not disappoint - they were fresh, and the ingredients were solid. We especially loved the cucumber topping which we’ve never had but was delicious, and the very hot but perfectly so scotch bonnet pepper hot sauce that came with it.

We also ordered the vegan plate which came with greens, rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. Again, delicious! Not greasy, well seasoned and very fresh tasting.

Plus the people who work there are so nice and friendly and clearly are just excited about their food and their restaurant.

10 out of 10 recommend.

1000/10 Best Caribbean food I’ve had in a while—and I’m from New York, which is saying something. We had the combo plate with jerk chicken and curry chicken, served with rice and peas and cabbage. Everything tasted homemade and cooked with love—super flavorful. The gentleman running the place made it feel like dining in his own kitchen. We grabbed doubles to go and they hit the spot. Truly amazing food—one of those rare places where all the glowing reviews are 100% accurate. Don’t miss it!

The food here tasted amazing. I was visiting from Florida and saw this spot youtube so i said I’ll give it a shot. When I walked in this young man greeted me like we was family, the I order the food, then the cook came out and was super friendly “I think she the owner” super nice and sweet. I order a veggie plate for my wife and a fish sandwich for me plus jerk chicken meal. Now I’m half jamiacan and I definitely give that chicken a stamp of approval. Overall my experience was great and you guys need to give this place a shot if you’re in the New Orleans area.

Queen Trini Lisa’s restaurant is or shall I say was a hidden gem. After Mr. Chimetime’s high rating review (9.8), I know it will be extremely busy. Her food is very tasty, and cooked with love. Each and EVERY time I’ve eaten her food, it is very good and satisfying, always consistent with good quality. The customer service is impeccable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I feel dumb for not understanding the level of culinary impeccability I was about to walk into. My soul has left my body and is searching for a new host. Had the Curry and the Jerk. Both amazing. The jerk chicken is now HANDS DOWN my favorite dish in New Orleans. Every side dish shed another layer of my ego until all that was left was my purest form. And then I transcended.

Good grief this place was good! If you like Jamaican jerk, don’t pass this place up! Chicken was phenomenal, rice was good and the perfect amount of spice, chickpeas, plantains, even the fries were all good! Will definitely be back. Wish it was in my home town 😂
