We shared the wood grilled red fish and it was excellent, beyond that we were disappointed: crab dip tasted like mayonnaise, fried okra was pickled okra and just tasted like fried dill pickles, and Popeyes has better red beans and rice. With 3 drinks from the bar the bill was over $200.
I love playing tourist in my own hometown and the 4 winds did blow us right here to the Red Fish Grill. Man, this joint on Bourbon Street had the plate of the evening for sure!! That Wood Grilled Red Fish with Lump Crab Meat sitting on a bed of tasso, mushrooms, peas, potatoes in a lemon butter sauce was awesome!! Get that dish!!
We always dine at Red Fish Grill whenever we come to New Orleans. The gumbo was quite tasty but the shrimp in it were cooked to death. Ike was a delightful waiter-very entertaining. He abandoned us mid meal though and never came back to offer dessert. No one at our table had any alcohol, so maybe we weren't lucrative?
